I saw something like that white one just yesterday in Phoenix except, EVERYTHING was painted white, the wheels, the bumpers, the hood latches, the door handles... only thing that wasn't painted were the blacked out windows

And here I sit, not knowing what manual hubs even are probably because I'm too young.

Edit:
So from a quick Wikipedia search, you could disconnect the wheels from the shaft? What's even the point of that if you have part time 4 wheel drive... I'm not technically inclined nor old enough to ever use these so called "manual hubs" so please be kind in telling me I'm dumb because I misunderstood what they do and proceed to shake your fist yelling "damn kids these days".

Wasn't it Barnum T. Bailey that said, "A fool and his money will soon part."?

I see a lot of these rigs here in AZ too. Most of them look pretty good actually for someone that doesn't want to do it themselves. Where I struggle is with the $$ they ask. Like that first one for example... Using their list, I come up with about $15k worth of stuff, now I assume that other needed stuff was done but not listed (gears-drive shafts, etc.) so make it a full $20k. Not that I would spend the money they did on the audio upgrades, etc. A low mile 2014 sport is $31k, so I'm at about $51k to sell. What am I getting for the extra $30k?? Maybe I'm just missing on the estimate that much...

" What am I getting for the extra $30k?? Maybe I'm just missing on the estimate that much... "

what you get is the appearance/illusion of being at the very peak of Jeepdom where attention to details of cosmetics and fashion prosper....in the fertile ground of imagination. You don't actually need to use the stuff, just wear the t-shirt announcing you did.

That we have so many choices is a blessing. Of sorts. That so many are initiated into the Guild of Ground Pilots with the designs often confabulated by marketing teams, makes an ever increasing pile of old unused Jeep OEM parts laying about.

Go into the back country where Jeep is a tool and most of the fluffery isn't on display.

I rather like to see what it is now that I have somehow been able to (barely) live without.....mostly it's the stuff the Pavement Dwellers thrive on.

Still there are some handsome Jeeps out there along with the dreadful 'WHAT are they DOING' styles.

Oh, I get it... I can dream about doing that stuff in the back country and then say I actually did it while looking good the whole time!!!

"then say I actually did it while looking good the whole time!!!"....as long as yer shirt tells us what ya think ya dreamed about....

What an interesting dichotomy in this thread! On one hand the pimp daddy wannabe mall crawler abominations replete with JeeperJake's insightful rumination on the Guild of Ground Pilots manipulated by magical marketing mavens and on the other hand a walk down memory lane to the glorious days of locking hubs. I had an 81 Toyota with locking hubs and I had a 69 Bronco that I installed locking hubs onto after the fact- Dana made axles that you could actually add locking hubs to back then.

Won't lie, if you go through the pics of the green one, you can see the tailgate is bent from the 38 hanging off the back. Wonder how many broken welds it has and why they haven't taken that picture down.

My own happy days from the introduction of the High Art of Locking Hubs, was magnified by 1) they worked; 2) they belonged to a buddy who had to otherwise deal with the machine he so thankfully shared with his buddies....while swearing at the cost & cracking jokes about 'now learning how to get REALLY stuck before I walk out'.

That there is a much larger box of Crayolas now to choose from, along with such dazzling extras the skinny little JC Whitney Catalog of the 1963 era had never on its best day ever considered possible, simply enhances the enjoyment of the JKetc world.

I was driving by a Dealer here in Phoenix, about 6 months ago. Right our front, up on a show lift/rack, sat one of those decked out JKUR's. 4" lift, LED lighting, including under carriage area. Bumpers, flat fenders, winch, after market exhaust, CAI, Bead-locks with 38's. I'm sure that there was more that I am not listing.

O.K., are your ready for this, NO GUSSETS AND TRUSS, plus factory Ball Joints. In fact it didn't look like any of the steering linkage had been updated. It did have adjustable CA's.

I pointed all of this out to the salesperson, who I could tell was at a loss of words. He finally said, that there shop knows what they are doing, and it doesn't need anything else. He stated that it was ready to go, at a reduced price of $72,000 and that it won't last long.

I smiled and said good luck!!!!!!!!!

As for the WARN MANUAL LOCKING HUBS.
My 1974 CJ5 Renagade, with a 304 v8, 3 spd manual, tru-trac tires, also had the front manual locking Warn Hubs.

That was my favorite Jeep. But it had leaf springs. I had extra leafs added, along with extended spring shackles.
It would just about go anyplace that you pointed it. Great off road machine. But on highway, very rough riding and very squirrley at high speed, because of it short wheel base and high up lifted springs' and shackles.

Non of this electronic crap, that we have ongoing issues with today!!!!!!!

But them, where the good old days...:thumb:

Not sure why you're surprised at those prices, it's Prestige Motors. They sell Lambos and used super cars. Would you expect to pay less for a CZ engagement ring at Mayors Jewelers than the mall kiosk? The last place anyone should buy a rigged Jeep is a high end dealership. Better off looking for a slightly used rigged Jeep at a regular dealership. Miami is well known for higher prices on everything because the majority of it's residents are more considered with how they look than anything else. It is the land of "Look how much better I am than you." Miami makes me physically ill.
