Something I should have asked the dealer...

I assume its fine to drive around without my ugly dealer provided spare tire cover?
Also is the tire locked onto the carrier in some way to to prevent theft?

Yep you can take off the cover. As far as the spare goes, is there a locking lug on it? Like one that you need a special "key" to take it off?

Absolutely unless the stealership is paying you to advertise for them.

More than likely not but you can pick up a locking lug at any tire retailer for around 5 bucks.

The very first thing I do when buying a new car is to bust out the hairdryer and sticker remover and take the dealer stickers off. If they want to pay my car payment, they can then advertise on my car. I dont even let them put the plastic license plate frame on.

Went and bought a good bicycle cable and wrapped it in good, I think it will do nicely as a deterrent for now.

Every new vehicle I've ever bought I make sure there is no dealer name anywhere on the vehicle, when we got our Pathfinder in WA back in '08 it drove around from being washed/detailed and I saw the dealer sticker and plate surround on the back/front, I asked the salesman if they are paying me for advertising for them, he said no, I said take it off now.

my arctic came without either one. so i added the mopar arctic tire cover. and to be on the safe side, went with a gorilla wheel lock set. you get 5, so you can lock the spare.

My dealer sent me home with a HUGE advertisement on my new jeep's tire cover. You could read their web address from outer space, I think.

Um yeah, a Bestop tire cover was the very first accessory that I ordered after purchase.

Good quality tire cover without ads = a couple of bucks worth of paint!

I replaced the dealer plate holders 5 minutes after I got home with the car.
It didn't give me a tire cover - that's okay, I got my own.

When I bought my 2011 it came with 5 MOPAR wheel locks, one for each wheel.
