Sound System

Just bought a 2012 Sport and wanting to add a better sound system. Any suggestions on what to add as far as radio, speakers, etc.

I went with JL audio all around. Best upgrade I've done so far. The stealth box they have for the 2 door looks great, and doesn't take up to much space. Car Audio - Stealthbox® - Jeep - Wrangler
I can grab some pics for you tomorrow. But, there is a lot of other options for a bit less coin. Infinity, Boston Acoustic, Alpine, Vega. Check out onlinecarstereo.com. For head units, its about what you want. I find pioneer to have the best sound/features. It's really about what you want, vs what you can afford. The install is really what costs $$$. The steering wheel control interface is $150, if you need an external sirius adapter, i believe that's $80, and most places charge $100-$125 to install. You'll need an amp, 4-5 channel to run new speakers and a sub. Just some stuff to think about.

Do you have the Infinity sound system with subwoofer? If so all you need is a new headunit.

I just redid my whole system at the beginning of the month. I installed a Kenwood DDX4119 deck, w/XM, Bluetooth, USB etc., Pioneer GM-D8604 4 channel amp, JL Audio TR650-CXI 6.5" speakers in the back, JL Audio TR650-CSI components in the front, w/ the tweeters mounted in the factory location, then I mounted a Kicker HS8 Hideaway sub in the back.
Deck (yes I grew up in the 80s)

Front tweeters

amp under driver's seat

Sub in back

This setup sounds great even with the top off. I have the Tuffy security trunk in the back, and it actually enhances the bass a bit. No pics of other speakers, since they are in factory locations and look stock.

A bit over $2000 installed. The deck, amp and speakers installed ran me $1630, and then the sub installed was a bit over $400.

Somewhat unrelated, but what are the green and blue things on the left? Are those clips? Curious what they're used for.

I have a 2013 4 door Rubicon with the Uconnect 730N. Can I do a system without having to change that head unit?

Those are switches for my windshield mounted lights (green), and bumper mounted lights.(blue)

Heres a pic of the sub, not the cheapest route but it's the cleanest.

Those are some great setups!

I installed the infinity BassLink Powered Subwoofer System actually i should use installed loosely because the sub actually fits behind my driver seat. Lol. so it is kinda in the open but I got the tinted vinyl windows so that helps hard part was just running all the cables. And then I replaced the stock radio with a JVC KD-R530. Believe it or not the combination between that head unit and sub are awesome together. There is plenty of bass settings on the head unit so if that is important then this is for you. Best part was this JVC unit was less then 100 bucks and it sounds better then the 300 dollar plus Pioneer Sony and Alpine units I have had in the past, worth checking out these two items.

I had the POS unit that sounded awful. I bought a jvc kw-av60bt head unit, Autotek ATX6.2C 6.5-Inch Component Speakers, Pyle PL63BL 6.5-Inch 360-Watt 3-Way Speakers, Tuffy Flip-N-Lock Stereo Cover & Tray Dark Slate 2007-2010(awesome, security and extra storage), and Boss Audio BASS600 8-Inch Low Profile Amplified Subwoofer. It sounds sweet, its secure, has blue tooth (mounted the mic under the lip to the console, right above my tachometer), the flat sub is under my front seat and can shake me. It is definitely not for competition but i wanted a low cost system that sounds great to me and my passengers. Stuff the speaker boxes with poly fill. Total for all of this should run you $750-$900 installed. Good luck!

Mine is a 4 door, 2009. Everything should be about the same for yours. It sounds great still! Good luck.

Do the Pyle PL63BL's fit in the soundbar with no alteration needed?
