Can anyone recommend some amp, speaker and sub combo that would sound good in a 2 door JK?
I would not mind keeping the stock HU just so the car does not become a target but if the it makes a big difference I can swap that out as well. I am a big fan of the sound of the JL subs and would like some component speakers.
I would also like to save storage space as much as possible so I would love to install my sub inside of the backseat cushion. Wonder if anyone here has done this and if they have any pointers.
I went with Alpine Type R components speakrs and the Alpine PDR? 5 channel amp. That all MSRP is over $1.2k but I got it for less then $700 on amazon. For subwoofer, you have a remaining $800 to decide which route you want to go!
I kept the head unit (130) 4 kickers 6.5" $150 1 alpine 4 channel amp (4x45) $150 1 sound ordnance 8" powered sub $150 (under passenger seat) Note- on a 2014 JK** $500 +- plus install or do yourself. I'm very pleased.
We put kicker tweeters (39.99), kicker 6.5 (59.99) kenwood 6.5 (39.99), Sony 1200 watt amp for the sub (50.00), alpine 300 watt amp for highs (50.00) and one kicker 12" (55.00).
The amps and sub I found thru Craigslist and pawnshops. I'm still running the factory stereo and it sounds amazing. Great sound for little money.
I would really love to do the install myself. I have done sub and speaker installs on my previous cars. But I feel like this is a new car and maybe I should leave it to the professionals as I am worried I might mess something up.
Also, a lot of people scare the crap out of me with their CAN Bus talk
The dealership installed a Memphis subwoofer and replaced all of the stock speakers with Memphis speakers OTD for $1200. They have a place next door that does all of their aftermarket stuff for them.
