Looking to mount my licence plate into my spare tire! My third brake light is already mounted there as I have the Teraflex tire carrier! That being said, I am looking for a third brake light with a licence plate light... post picture of your set up.
I made my own....pretty easy actually. (2) 3/8 bolts 10 inches and then cut to size. Conduit cut to size, nuts and washers and then a 16 gauge plate...all from HomeDepot.
Inside the rim gets a washer and a nut....
Just need to decide if I want to leave it long of cut it to fit the plate.
I am running the Red RIGID Chase, wired as a replacement brake light, and I ran new wires from the rear of the tub through the tailgate and out the grommet to connect to the chase's Running Light, Reverse Light and Courtesy light.
Courtesy and Running are wired together so they come on together whenever the parking or headlights are on.
The reverse is wired into the reverse.
IMHO< there's no better single light solution for this .
I'm looking to move the license plate to the spare tire this weekend. Bought a quick disconnect running license plate light and still have the third break light above the tire carrier.
For people who have done this with modded tire carriers, how does your wiring look since most spare tire carriers come off independently of the back tailgate of the jeep?
I like that look a lot. What are you using as your license plate running light? Did you splice from the standard light and cut the wires?
