Speaker / Amp upgrade

I have been reading upgrade threads all day. I am now even more confused and have a headache. I thought I knew exactly what I wanted now, not so much. I'm sorry, I'm sure a lot of this is out there but right now my head is spinning from all the information and thoughts on the subject. I'm trying to keep it simple.

I have a 2014 JKUS. I currently have the 130 with Uconnect. Like others I want to keep the HU stock, maybe upgrade to the 430 later. I had planned on using the 77Kick10 in the soundbar and dash and leave the tweeters alone for now. As I keep reading some people say the kicker upgrade is great some say crap. I did notice that there is a kicker amp upgrade or addition in my case ( 77KCK056 ) if I understand all the other threads.

1) Is the amp an upgrade an addition for base radio's, like mine, or replacement for the infinity amp in the better upgraded systems?

2) Amp first then speakers or the other way around?

3) I know the speakers are but is the amp also plug and play?

4) it seems like I can get all for around $350. Is it worth it?

I'm looking for a better system not perfect. Thanks in advance for any help.

Ok so are you looking for just an ok sound improvement or a good improvement? What is your budget? Do u want good bass? R u willing to out a sub box in the back?

You can go with that kicker upgrade crap but it's really not that great of an improvement. The factory sub enclosure is shit. If you want clean bass you will need a decent amp, and a sub in a box. All the miss in the jeep are ok. You should focus in the sub, an amp, and the tweeters. This is my setup:

I have a 2013 JKR. I left all the mids alone and just replaced the sub and tweeters. I have a 600w mono amp under the drivers seat pushing 2 10 inch kicker solo barics. I completely disconnected the factory sub and left it in the enclosure it's just plain shit anyway. I have had to replace the factory tweeters three times already. I finally ended up with Alpine 400 W tweeters. All of my mid range speakers are being pushed by the factory amp. I also got rid of the factory crappy u connect deck and went with a Kenwood DNX 570 HD. This system absolutely slams, but it's not for everybody. I really wanted a hard-hitting system. This is why I asked the questions earlier about your budget and your end goal. To get down to brass tax we really need to figure out what your budget is. Let me know.

I am looking at the Alpine power pack amp . I already have polk speakers in the sound bar and looking to replace the front ones with polks also. The wife and kids told me the stereo sucks when the top is off and I need to fix it.

I bought this set to install in the motorhome but then went with a home theater system. I'm thinking of installing it in Rubi, but I don't want to lose trunk space or have it visible. The sound system need better bass though.

With what u said above about loosing space and having it visible is an issue then forget about it. There is always a trade off. Do u want sound quality or 2 feet of cubic space? That is something u need to mull over. For me I don't care about space. I also have a proximity sensor, pager for my car alarm, and I always have a 45 I'm the glove box and a 380 in my nuts at all times. This is my trade off and I'm more than Happy to discuss it with any thieves!

Problem with thieves is that they'll usually do their thing when you are not in the vehicle. I lost a Glock 30 that way. Not worried in my neighborhood, but more when it's parked elsewhere. They'll cut your top to get whatever they can.

I'm really not looking to add a sub to my system. I also want to keep my HU. Just looking to upgrade the speakers and add an amp if it's possible. There seem to be a consensus that you can't have a good sound system with a stock HU.

I replaced my stock 130 HU first because I wanted something with navigation. The Kenwood HU that I replaced it with improved the sound somewhat but the biggest improvement came from replacing the four 6.5" Infinity speakers with the Kicker speakers. The Kicker speakers also added a lot of bass compared to the Infinity speakers. The second biggest improvement was adding Polk brand tweeters. I also replaced the stock sub with a Polk that got good reviews online but with only the factory Infinity amp to power it I have noticed very little improvement over the stock sub. I to am interested in the Kick amp. I want an amp that will fit under the steering wheel where the current one is rather than under a seat ect.

Mittenman, After replacing the HU were you still able to retain the BT and steering wheel functions? Does then UConnect still work?

Just replace the speakers. don't worry about an amp repacement. the 50w factory will be just fine for what your goal is. Also there is nothing wrong with the factory HU. A lot of people including myself just want something to push the speakers and amp harder and also something a bit nicer and easier on the eyes. From all that has been said all you need to do is replace your factory speakers with something else excluding the sub. Dont add another amp, just use the factory one with the factory deck.

My Jeep is an 07' and therefore did not come with the steering wheel controls. I bought a Kenwood 691 HU with navigation, BT for making phone calls, streaming audio, ect and have had no trouble with it. From what I understood had I had the steering wheel controls those would have worked fine with this unit to.

I'm also thinking of adding a proximity alarm.

Without tearing into it, can anyone tell me what my JKUR is equipped with. I got the premium sound leather option. The head unit is the RHB and the sub in the back says Alpine. What size amp, etc. I did the capacitor mod for the tweeters and they sound much better now. I also added filler to the soundbar and helped a bit. The two front knee level speakers really suck. Not sure what the problem is with the sub...weak amp or crappy woofer.
