Speaker upgrade ??

Has anyone bought the Kicker speakers for the sound bar? I love my JKU but the speakers are a little on the weak side lol. Just curious if anyone has used the Kicker or some other alternative and if it's worth it?

IMO: If you don't change out the head unit, or add an amplifier for the speakers, there isn't a real need to change them out. Sure, those aftermarket Kickers may handle more power, but they aren't necessarily getting that power.

That being said - I am planning on getting those Kickers once I change out my head unit!

I did it on my last JK (may he rest in peace), best mod ever for the price. Have not done so yet on the new JK, but then again I am thinking about going full blast and getting an amp, components and a sub. That said, for the price you can't go wrong. they WILL make your system sound better, period. get the ones made for the JK and it is a simple operation, go for the ones in the soundbar first, then make your decisions to go for the dash.

I changed out all of my stock Alpine speakers to the Kicker 77kick10 speakers and they sound much better. When I have the roof off, I often turn up the radio and the stock speakers would distort pretty bad. With the Kicker speakers, I can really crank up the radio and they never distort. The sound bar installation was very simple. It took maybe 5 minutes per speaker. You have to wrestle the speakers out of the dash, but they are not too terribly difficult. Check Ebay, you can get the Kicker speakers there new for around $67 for a pair.

I swapped out my stock speakers for Polks (651/6501). True, it's still on the stock 130, but definitely sounds better. I can hear with the soft top open now.

Also, add poly fill to your speaker enclosures, too. That helps a lot.

My JK came with the kickers...+1 on above, you really don't get to take advantage of the soundbars speakers output unless you change out the headunit or power them from an amp...the stock HU limits the output to the rear speakers via the canbus system...

I replaced my speakers with a set by JW Headlight. He makes great ones.

Glad you got it -- that one was kinda hanging out there in the breeze for awhile!

I replaced the stock speakers with the Kickers 1st and it made a noticeable difference even with the stock HU. Obviously the sound was better still after swapping out the factory HU.

I agree. I was doubtful that a two pairs of seventy dollar speakers could be an improvement over anything. Alas, it just goes to show how very bad the single-cone, half-ounce magnet OEMs are. (I didn't have the premium upgrade.)

The Kickers actually sound pretty good, price notwithstanding. The difference once I got all 4 installed was very noticeable; enough so that I'm not doing anything else to the sound system. Suits my needs just fine now.
