Speedo and Odometer

I purchased 2008 wrangler x used. Has 33" tires and 3.21 gear ratio. When I first got it felt like everyone on highway was going slo, I was passing everyone at 65 mph. I was also not happy that I was almost at top speed at 65 mph when going uphill.
I started to question speedometer with oversized tires. Had friend put his cruise control on 60 mph while I was behind him on highway. my speedometer said 52 mph. 8 mph off, will this also effect my odometer? how much does it cost to correct? Can I do it myself?

When I changed my tires I bought a Procal unit, American Expedition Vehicles - Wrangler ProCal Module - Additional Vehicle Features and Calibration Tool does a couple of things more than just tire size.. but that is all I really cared about when I bought it. They are around $150.

Or you can get a Superchips Flashpaq, and update the performance and tires but it costs about $400 I have not tried it.

You could purchase the superchips Flashpaq...Has a setting to recalculate tire size and improve fuel and Power...Little bit more expensive than the one listed above

Me too, my AEV Procal Module corrected the speedo and Deleted the TPMS sys "beep", so that I don't need the xmitters in the wheels

It also programed the turnsignals to automatically "blink" 3 times when you just "flick" the stalk

You can also set it to advance your idle speed for 10 minutes, at whatever speed you want-ie for winching, deep snow, recovery-whatever

Neat little tool--very simple to use !!

The Procal is only about $129, and the Superchips is only $300.

If you have found them for those prices, a link would be nice.

2 weeks ago I bought a superchip. I needed something to get some power after my 35's, and my speedo was off by about 8mph, and my automatic shifted weird.

The chip corrected everything, and with the 93 octane tune, it feels like I'm geared with 4.88's.

You you just want a speedo fix though, I'd shoot for one of the cheaper programmers. For more power and stuff, the superchips flashpaq is top of the line.

Robster, if your speedo is off due to tire size on your TJ, you can swap out the speedo gear. There are write ups to do it, takes less than 30 minutes in the driveway....
