Spider Shades

So my wife states that she likes having the top back but the sun is a little hot for her and our almost 2 year old son. I was looking at the Spider shades and was wondering if anyone had any opinions? Can I keep it on and have the soft top closed?

Yes. Soft top can be put back on with Spiderwebshade in place. They are great and function awesome!!! I have the 2-piece one, so I can remove the front OR back shade, only, if needed.
Others have stated about "wind flapping", but mine is quiet as can be and hold great with supplied bungee ball cords.
Here is eBay link for the one I purchased. Cheaper than Spiderwebshades.com. BTW

Member Sueby just bought one.
I like it. She says just the 2 straps that wrap around the front hooks need to be disconnected. Then the softop will work.

I got one about a week ago and put it on right away as it was 96 degrees out. It made a very noticeable difference in temperature and still gives that open air feeling that seems to be lacking with a bikini top. The soft top will fold up easy without and issue just unhook the 3 ball bungees that attach the the windshield(where the soft top clips into place) and either leave it there or fold it back a bit. I'd post some pictures but I just took it off yesterday cause the temp has cooled down a bit. But for those hot summer days it's an awesome product. There is a slight flapping at higher speeds but not bad at all and you really won't notice it unless you're really focusing on it.

I have the trailmesh--it is a great pickup--you'll really utilize it. Cuts down on the heat and sun, but still allows the open air feel of being topless. Get one!

Totally love it. It took me 5 minutes to install it and you only have to undo 2 of the 3 front spiderballs to put the soft top up, it stays right in place.

Love mine and more importantly the wife loves it. I do notice some flapping at higher speeds but....hey it's a Jeep. There is nothing quiet about a Jeep.

Keeps the glare and hot sun down just to the right levels and still feel like I am topless. Best mod to date and one of the cheapest. Jim.

Don't have any experience with either, but from a design standpoint, I prefer the Dirty Dog shade to the SpiderShade. Not a fan of how much of a gap the SpiderShade leaves between itself and the rollbar.

I personally run a custom made shade and absolutely love it.

I've had mine on the JKU for 2 years. Makes a huge difference that the wife and kids appreciate. I have to admit that I felt a little boxed in when I put it on for the first time, but now would not drop the top without it.

Great product.

Is their "trail mesh" worth the extra $20 on the JKU version or does the cheaper Ultramesh hold up just fine unless you're in heavy brush? It seems like the Trailmesh from their pictures online doesn't allow you to see out as easily if you were to buy the rear cargo area piece but maybe it's just the way their photos are?

I just installed the Ultra mesh last week. It's awesome!
It was 98 degrees here last week/weekend. Kids love riding around with the top down, it worked great. I'll probably only use my A/C when it rains and I have to put the top up.

I couldn't tell you about the trailmesh, but I'm happy with the Ultramesh visibility.
You can see the clouds in the sky, and the tree limbs overhead. The Ultra mesh stretches a little bit, to make for a nice fit. I think you will be happy with either one, because there are alot of people on here really happy with the Trailmesh also.

Worth every penny, best accessory for my Jeep so far.

I use a Trailmesh shade under a Trektop NX. I had the shade left over from a 2 door. It works great for keeping the sun from burning my kids in the back seat.

I have been doorless with the ultra mesh since last JUly. I love the top. We never even use the a/c in the central Texas heat. Best mod you will do for your Jeep.
