Spider Web Shade vs. Rugged Ridge Mesh Top

I am interested in a full length mesh top for my 2013 JKU that can stay on underneath my soft top. I am leaning toward the Spider Web shade but would like to hear reviews from owners of the Rugged Ridge Eclipse mesh top as well.

I will have to put full support to Spiderweb Shade. Just the simple fact that you can leave it on and you do not need a windshield adapter is what sold me.

I went with the Dirtydog 4x4. (2 piece) I read a lot of reviews in wich a big complaint was the flapping over the speaker bar. Also with the 2 piece I can use either one without having to remove the whole thing.

I have the rugged ridge and like it (but I opted for only the front portion shade). I think it's very similar to the sws and appears to be well made. Now, I have no idea how this compares to the sws, but I did notice that it really doesn't seem to block the suns heat all that well. Maybe I was hoping for too much, but since I can't get too much sun (been battling skin C for 20 years) I don't use it too often. The holes in the mesh seem a bit big to really block much uv, but again I've not compared it side by side to the SpiderWeb shade. I got a great deal on the RR, but will probably buy the sws soon just to see if it blocks the uv any better.

Jeff - I've been thinking about the dirty dog 3pc so my black lab can get out of the TX sun too. Are you happy with yours and does it do a good job keeping the sun off?

The SWS blocks more sun than the DD, but I don't think your dog would know the difference. I have the SWS, but it is the JKini. I currently have Safari Straps over the rear portion of the Jeep and it protects the dog pretty well.

I'm happy...it fit tight to the roll bars and make it pleasant to ride topless. I haven't seen or tried the Spider Web, but I read it stop a higher percentage of the sun coming through the mesh, but it doesn't fit as tight around the borders allowing the sun to come directly in rhrough the gap. The quality of the DD is superb. No comolaints here.

I have the spider web shade and I like it a lot. No gaps if properly installed. I leave it on year round even with the soft top up. Had it for 2 years and it still looks like new.
I've had plenty of Rugged Ridge products, and have found their longevity to be less than ideal.

I honestly believe that if you are looking for a single piece, they all are gonna be about the same. It ultimately will come down to price, tax free, free shipping, etc. The main reason I went with the DD was because they are the only one offering the option of 1,2, or even 3 pieces. (Cargo space) To me the flapping issue was more important than anything else. Although I tell you I ended up paying about $30 more. But I am very satisfied with the product.

I don't know about the RR but the Spider Web claims to block 90% of UV rays. I really like that because I am fair skinned and bald!

That's the thing, the RR website doesn't list a uv protection claim (at least not that I can find). The box may make a claim but I threw it out. I'm balding and fair skinned as well, and like I said it just doesn't "feel" like its cutting the sun that well. If you need protection, I'd go with the sws then for sure. I assumed they'd all be about equal, but not seeing any claim now makes me wonder.
