How's the head room in the front and rear seats for the JKU? I'm 6'3" (have a couple buddies about the same height that may be sitting in back) and heard these sit a little lower which worries me a bit.

If it dips alittle in the bag I was thinking about just getting the one that covers the front seats.

I know you guys have mentioned that you can put the hard top over top of it but what about the soft top? And if I wanted to take off the spiderweb shade, is that an easy process?

Folded my soft top over both of mine yesterday when I gave em a bath after our trail Saturday. And I guess it'd be easy to remove it but I've seen no need to. honestly can't speak highly enough of these things.

Hubby is 6'1" and he's ok with his. Dips at the windshield a bit. But it actually goes over top the back roll bars. Both of ours are jku.

Wife and I put my new trailmesh on this weekend. Really nice. Wife was a little meh at first because it wasn't fully open to the sky.

I had the jeep in full sun on Sunday during a soccer game and it was nice and cool when I got back in it. I originally took the velcro squares off the grommets but they do loudly snap against the soundbar so I put them back on.

Will see how it goes when i put the hard top back on this afternoon due to rain tomorrow.

Let me know if you figure out how to get the freedom panels back on without totally removing the mesh. I can't see how to move the center locks without removing enough straps for the whole front to be disconnected. I'm thinking remove them, put the tops on, and then work the front 3 small bungees back in to the space that's left of the footman loops just to keep the mesh tied up and out of the way.

I've often wondered that myself. The JKini (covers only the front seats) has a cutout to allow one to un/lock the rear center latch. Not sure how this works with the full-size shade.

A bit of a struggle but doable. Just disconnect the front 3 spiderballs. The front is held on by the two front edge spiderballs alone now. Easy to get to the visor clamps and front center lock. I left them disconnected. It doesn't really sag much due to the tension from the front sides. If it flaps with the windows open, I may reconnect them though (as you said). The ceiling is definitely lower but I figure I can get used to it.

The rear center lock was a quandary at first but I just tried to close it through the mesh and it worked. The ones on the sides were no problem.

Visibility in the rear is a tad worse now with the back shade dipping down in front the rear window to the middle of the wiper box. I may slide the back spiderballs up a little to regain that visibility.

All said I will probably be trying different combinations as I go to see what works best. It doesn't take long to put it on either so taking it off/on every time isn't that horrible a thing.

One last thing, make sure you take the velcro squares off the grommets before you put the lid back on.

No problem. Just take off the 2 Spiderballs that attach to the latches and the soft top goes up just like the Spiderweb shade isn't there.

Thanks for the info. On the visibility, I'm guessing you're in a 2 door? The JKU version doesn't dip, and ends at the rear rollbar support that goes across the back so no visibility loss there unless you install differently than the suggested setup on their site.

Yeah, it's a two door.

Do you lose that open feeling you get with the top down when you put these on? In some of these pictures, it looks highly visible like a roof.

Yes you do to a degree..... I'm in Houston so the sun and heat dictate needing this. Once the temp gets back to normal I will remove it.

Sort of. My wife didn't like it at first for that very reason but as we continued our road trip she really appreciated it. IMO, it is better than a safari but not quite as good as open air. I think the trade off, in terms of sun/heat versus losing a little of the view, is worth it.

Well I might be the only one who doesn't like it....I'm tall so having a shade that is lower than my roof, isn't working for me. It touches my hair...and bugs the crap outta me. :/

I'm bummed.

Not as open as no top but still way more open than with the top shut. If you are pale like me the sunburn and extreme summer heat of an open top just are too much. Love the Spider Shade!

Used my new spiderweb shade for the first time. One a 98 degree Maryland day it did a nice job cooling down the hot sun just enough to make it comfortable. one nice benefit of it is it really cuts down on the wind. You get some wind but you don't get beat up like normal at highway speed.

I really like that you can leave it on with the top up.

It does take away a little from the true open top feeling, but you still get enough sun to know you don't have a roof.

I would say, from my perspective, it is a really nice thing to have in July and August and I will probably only use it during the really hot time of year. I think spring and fall I prefer the true open top. But well worth the money to save you in the hot months
