Sports S vs. Sahara

friends - went out today to a few dealerships to start to get an education. am a 11st time jeep buyer. will be used as a 3rd car, no off-roading besides trudging thru some NJ snow.

whats major difference betwene the Sport S and the Sahara? The Sport S is ~ $24k and the Sahara is $28k:

- the 18 inch wheels
- the better sound system

anything else?

thanks much,
TJ

sport and sahara

hi, the sport and sahara, about the same, on the sport u get to order
the stuff u want, and the sahara it comes with some of the options, if u
like black trim and fender flairs, get sport it's a bit better than the painted
flairs which get dinges at u r local supermarket parking lot, shopping carts & car doors, plus. the sahara is about 2k more, this comes down to what u
like ur on your own at this point.. ;-))

No such thing as a Sport Sahara....

--------------
OP,

A Sahara is a dressed up Sport S that also offers access to a few more options. I went back and forth between the two....but settled on the Sahara because I wanted saddle leather interior, along with painted flares and a painted top. Plus it comes with upgraded shocks, AT tires, and a few other goodies.

It really depends on what you plan on doing with the Jeep. If I were getting one as a 3rd vehicle, I would get Sport or Sport S over a Sahara.

yeah, what he said..no such anumal as "sport sahara"

if you want a Sahara with black bumper is guess the closest to that would be a MOAB...and those are some expensive bumpers

but on a serious note... i thinkthe difference in Sport and Sahara is about 50% what it comes with and 50% what you CAN GET if you so choose.
Examples... NAVI, heated seats, auto climate contol, Painted hard top... all NOT available on the Sport but you CAN get them on Sahara...
So there are some differences (painted fenders, 18" wheels, standard side steps, 110 v outlet, etc.) but you have the ability to make MANY difference...

Or just take the silver trim off the Sahara bumpers, and hey presto. Black bumpers.

This ^^^. My Sport S JKU has almost every option that the Sahara has and I like the non-painted fenders. Still saved money over the base Sahara. Some douchebag already hit my fender with their door, if it was painted it would have chipped.

The 2dr Sport S doesn't have as much stuff standard as the 4dr by the way.

4dr Sahara has the 18" wheels, automatic headlights, Alpine system with sub and the body color fenders standard.

Here are the differences between a Sport S and a Sahara:

Sahara comes standard with:
Auto headlights
Hood insulation
Upgraded shocks
115v outlet
Silver bumper inserts
Standard side steps (optional on Sport S)
Painted fenders
18 inch rims (and AT tires) vs 17 inch rims
Grab handles
Choice of black or saddle interior
7 speaker premium sound system with sat radio (optional on Sport S)

Here are the additional options:
Option for painted hard top
Option for two navigation systems
Option for heated leather
Option for heated cloth
Option for climate control
Option for remote start (auto only)

None of the Sahara stuff is "critical", but it really depends on what you want to do and how you will use your Jeep. (I also think the trim ring color on the vents are different....grey vs silver...maybe).

Also, good point on the difference between a 2 door and 4 door Sport S.

Long story short, glad I bought my Sport S JKU. It seems almost everyone in the area goes for the Sahara... I'd rather be different and save $2k for almost every option on the Sahara. I like my plain fenders now.

A decision only the OP can make. If he is looking at a 2dr, the Sport S has way less standard features than the 4dr Sport S. Make sure you look into it.
