spring ratings question.. but interested in the letters that follow

so just a weird question. all of the threads i can find about spring ratings is about the rating themselves, but there's nothing about what the letters after the ratings are, or if they mean anything?

I have a '12 sahara with no tow package and the springs are 17/58... i believe a rubi typically runs around 18/59? so i'm just wondering if those two letters mean something and have been previously overlooked? i believe there is AA, AB, and AC

so my springs are 17AC, 58AA

Any ideas? I dont know how big of difference having 17-18 would be.. but i know that my jeep sat lower than a stock rubi...

thanks =)

I'll bite and make a WAG.
Maybe a code for who manufactured the spring?
So any recall would not reflect all spring numbers, just certain spring manf. code letters?
Which would be recorded on the build sheet as to what spring manufacturers' springs were install in your JK/JKU at the factory.
It would reduce recalling all JK/JKUs. Just certain manufacturers springs. Which would save Jeep money on a recall.
But this is just me making my best WAG.

The letters mean the part number has been revised. For example 23452345AA; AA means its the original part number with no changes to the part. 23452345AC means something has been changed three times. Could be an actual change to the part or a change to how its made, or a design drawing change.

From several years as a parts person...sometimes it's not a design change, but a spillover change that forces a superseded number as well.
