Spyder LED Tail lights

Just came back from Pomona's 2013 Offroad Expo. Surprise, surprise... the majority of all vehicle's were all JK's. After viewing the hundreds of vehicle's; it made it seem that a 35" tire was a 'small' tire. In any case, found a great deal (or very good at the least) in the JAO's booth. Please tell me this is a good deal. Got the LED taillights for $200 (they had them in smoked, clear, black, etc). Seem well made, plug/play, and were bright in the daytime under fluorescent lights. (Vendor referenced no issue with the CANBUS system). Will be installing them tomorrow!

(Also, I made a post a while back about the JAO's front JK bumper... apparently they have them in the US now, and you have to pay no freight costs. Wish I knew this before making my decision to purchase the 10A front bumper).

What do you guys think of the lights?

I have no idea if this is a good deal or not but they do look good. Plus, if you like them and they hold up…that's all that matters.

MRT2, How did you like these Spyder LED's? I'm thinking of buying them and wanted some feedback. Also, what is the difference between Smoke and Black? It looks like the smoke is the lens color, but housing is still light colored. Then Black is clear lens with black housing?

Hey Jeepin Jesse,

This sounds odd, but next to the 10A hood I had installed, the Tail Lights are the next favorite item on the rig.

If memory serves me correctly, I believe you're spot on. THe smoked refers to the lens itself smoked. The 'black' refers to the interior housing of the light.

I myself (being that I have a white Jeep) went for the split color stock color of white/red. Recently when I had my hood installed, the Jeep was returned with a cracked rear tail light (they did replace it).

However in the time being, I had a chance to use (for a week) both tail lamps (Original and Spyder) at the same time. Both parking and brake lights are worlds apart. The LED's are brighter, focused, and more defined (vs the conventional). The biggest difference was in the reverse lights. Brighter! (70% brighter?). Don't get me wrong, it's not "putting a Rigid Flood in the back", but it's noticeably brighter. Both in the interior whilst driving, and viewing from outside.

The tail lights are nice. Still maintains the original look, but with a modern detail.

(I will say, be careful when tightening. The plastic will crack if over tightened. I learned this the hard way. Also, had the car outside a few days in the rain… no moisture or condensation build within the interior of the housing)

Hope this helps!

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the feedback! That's enough to confirm for me to go ahead and purchase. Do you happen to remember if the smoke had a silver or black housing? Online they look silver or chrome. If that's the case I'm going black, but would like black housing and smoke lens, like the recons.

I almost pulled the trigger on these after Christmas. Let us know how they are when you get them. There really isn't a whole lot of info on these out there. They look to be pretty identical to recon's for half the price.

I will definitely report back after I get them and install. I will order the Blacks tonight. Was trying to decide between smoke and black on my Billet. Still a little undecided since I think the smoke will be a little brighter.

Now I just need to find a vendor that isn't charging CA sales tax!

I'm looking at getting the black eventually too. Can't wait to see yours.

Don't know about the sales tax but this may help. I found them at CARDID for $238.00 and then you can use this coupon code SPYDER_5-OFF to make it $226.10.

Will you post up a picture of your tail lights? There are very few pictures of these things actually on Jeeps on the internet.

Do they require additional resistors to stop the whole fast blink problem with the turn signals?

Nice lights! I was looking for brighter back up lights, so this may do the trick and maintain the OEM look as well as plug and play! Thanks for adding another mod to my list which I didn't think I needed! :-)

I know right? Working on the wife getting me these for valentines day! Flowers chocolate/Led lights. Seems even to me. Just joking...She hinted that she wants a new pair of costa sunglasses so I'll hint to her that I want some lights and we'll see what happens.

I ordered the Black ones off Amazon last night for $177, no shipping or CA sales tax. If I'm lucky, I will have them by next Fri. Delivery is estimated 2/14 - 2/20. I will be sure to post pics and reviews on here and my build thread.

Here is the Amazon link.

Silly question, but nothing pertinent changed on the 2014's right? I'm guessing they just haven't updated to include the 14s yet, but thought it best to ask. Thanks

Depends on location bro. I have a tracking # already, but it hasn't made it to terminal yet. So no ETA :-(

I don't have tracking yet. You ordered a day before I did so... I doubt mine gets here before the 14th. I usually only order stuff that is "Prime" so I get the free 2 day shipping. I like knowing when my stuff is going to be here. But for $50 savings it will just have to get here when it gets here.

So I was all upset yesterday when I checked tracking and still didn't have an ETA because the created the label on Fri and it still hadn't made it to a UPS location. I just checked again and they are scheduled for delivery TODAY!!

The seller is in CA, so they made it to UPS last night and to my house today. UgaTyler, might take a few more days to get to GA.

This is a good day for the jeep. I get it back from the shop today after lift and wheels/tires installed too!!

epreza50, are those the red ones? If so, is the entire housing red and is it a true red or more like a burgundy? Thanks
