I just got a set of these for $150 off a friend. My rig is stock height right now. Is anyone else running these and how much, if at all will it affect my ground clearance? I didn't think about this when I picked them up until I realized tehy have that bottom piece that drops down.
I have these on my Jeep, but I'm lifted and on 35's. They drop down I'd say an inch or so. Haven't taken my Jeep in anything other than sand, but I do have a Rausch 101 booked for next month. I'll post a side pic for you to see...
Thanks...looks good, but they do seem to hang down a bit :-( I am just concerned about the function while navigating over rocks and such...I'm typically up in the mountains when I am off-road.
This^^^^ at least mine dont hang any lower than the frame rail.. I haven't ridden mine over rocks yet, but they appear decently sturdy.
I have become an Ace fan since I bought these and would probably go that way if I could do it again.
Mine went on with no issues that a couple of taps with the hammer in one kind of tight spot couldn't cure.
Total time to install was about an hour for me. I was told some of the older sets had fitment issues, but supposedly has been corrected. Sounds like you had a time of it.
I really like mine, makes a great step for putting top up/down and washing. The bottom is actually higher than the frame rail. I'm sure you could bottom on it easier than a slider but for my needs I have not had any problem at all. Hey for $150 stick it on and try it out
Woo Hoo!!! I got these in yesterday, and I like how solid they are. Each one weighs 45 lbs. I am gonna try to mount them tomorrow...it was snowing here all day today, and the same for tomorrow, so I will have to shift around some things in the garage to make room for my, hopefully, half day project tomorrow.

LOL....Welll I've been at it all day on the install, and I'm still not done yet...so much for bolt on.
The first half of the day was trying like hell to get my old side steps off. The bolts were rusted on and I sprayed them down a couple of days before with PB blaster and again today too. I ended up having to hacksaw one of the mounts off...I will deal with that stuck bolt later....maybe.
The second half of my day has been grinding trying to mount, grinding again, trying again...and waiting and grinding and waiting...I have an 18v cordless angle grinder ;-)
The front part of the mounts for the new SRC Side Armor were hitting the underbody mount where you bolt up. I didn't want to grind off the underbody "shroud" but in hindsight I would be sipping a beer now and watching TV if I had ;-)
Back to the grinder here in a few more minutes after the battery charges back to full. Even with a spare battery this is taking too long. LOL
I am gonna hit the grinded areas with some black spray paint to protect the exposed metal.
I am going to just grind away the underbody part that is blocking my easy install and be done with it. It's nothing significant.
Here are some pics of the progress. It helps to have jack stands if you don't have a second pair of hands to assist you during install.
The driver side front underbody (cab) mount "shroud" is in my way. I have been trying to grind the side armor and avoid cutting these surrounds.
Here is the passenger side front mount area where I will also have to cut away the shroud. You can see here on the side armor where I have been shaving away trying to get it to fit.
A side shot of the drivers side with the soon to be mounted SRC Side Armor

just a word of caution, if you play in the rocks they will make more contact with rocks than wanted. I ran them for a while
After running Chinamans Gulch and Wheeler Lake I took them off. They are built tough though
They are finally mounted! I stuck with the grinding on the side armor until I got it down enough to slip into place. I felt better about this than grinding on my Jeep frame.
P.S. If anyone local to Denver/Boulder wants to run Switzerland trail. a few of us will be meeting in Nederland at high noon.
