started in the newbie section

So as the title goes I started this in the newbie section. Basically my fiance is looking at a jeep. I drive a ford but am deff into the idea of having more of a toy to play with on the weekends. It would be her DD and obviously my weekend toy. My questions are is there any paticular year thats better or worst. She's wanting a four door JK. I've heard the motors are not as well build as the older 4.0's were. I'm going to want to do a few odd and end things to it. I.E. mild lift, tires, air lockers and a regear. I've always thought a jeep would be nice to have but I grew up around fords and that's all I really know. Any input or thoughts would be great.

Thanks in advance.

2012 gets a new engine and auto transmission, which offers a substantial improvement, particularly for folks with auto transmissions. Otherwise, they're basically the same from 2007 onward other than cosmetic changes to the interior in 2011. Go pre-2007 if you want the old 4.0.

I would be looking for a preowned JK. Stopped by another dealer this morning and the sales man told me that the rubicon comes with sway bar disconnects. Is this true? Also is the Rubicon worth the money if im going to be looking into a lift, tires, lockers, and a regear?

Sounds good to me, I wasn't aware that they had front and rear lockers. I didn't even realize they had the Dana 44. I'm liking the rubicon more and more...

I have a had a 2007 and currently a 2011. The 2012 has a stronger engine but for the way and distances I usually drive the 2011 has been great for me. I have a ford too, with that 5.4 v8 that should've come with little parachutes for the spark plugs, but I do still have it. Oh yeah and I went from a sahara to a rubicon, and the rubi goodies are sweet.
