I can see these guys getting a TLC reality show, it will be a cross between Gas Monkey garage and the Vanilla Ice Project...they'll "brainstorm" their next project about getting a Jeep with nothing on it for ~$26 grand, adding stuff then selling for 70 grand.

BAM! I promise I don't work for TLC.

Just a quick update. I decided to call Starwood and ask a few questions:

- The salesmen I talked to was unaware of any warranty on the liner spray.
- They quote it takes 100 days to build one of their Jeeps
- Stated no modification is needed to steering, brake lines, etc. since they are only using a 4" lift.
- Stated they only use top of the line products.
- No wiggle room in pricing. Believe it's fair and have 40 custom order Jeeps back logged right now.

Yeaaaaaaaaaaah.....

When called the guy was very arrogant, uninterested in working with me. Sounds like he still works there !!!

They don't build these for people like us. They aren't interested in speaking to anyone with Jeep knowledge. You will be blown off if you start to talk tech or question the quality or pricing.

Their clientele can just write a check. These are built for trust fund kids, gated community "adventurers", wealthy "hunters" or "ranchers", rich wives who don't get enough attention, insanely rich drug cartel foreigners, etc.

Don't mean to offend anyone, but if you've ever walked into one of these "high end" used car dealerships you know what I mean.

Looks like they took a gamble on their higher priced models, as they are repeatedly listed on eBay. In the end, they might be willing to discount, but only for their cash customers.

Pro Comp is top of the line? They probably drop them off at 4 Wheel Parts to have the lifts done.

When he stated they take 100 days to build a Jeep I politely replied that seems extremely inefficient since I have seen their build take 3-5 days max. Gave them another 5 days for leather and paint. All I got was "............"

Yep. Sounds like a "Dallas" type of guy. The "Dallas" part that we folks from Dallas don't like. They are not worth half of what those guys charge. These are the jeeps that keep ours from having even higher resale value.

Just a question. I am looking at one of the Starwood Jeeps. I also clicked on the website for Collins Bros as previously mentioned. Their Jeeps are $48k. The Starwood I am looking at has Kevlar Paint, 18" Fuel Wheels, Nav, Heated Seats, Leather, and all the rest of their add-ons. I have an agreed price of $50,000 shipped to NY. Collins is at $48,000 does not have the Kevlar paint, No Nav, No Max Towing, and some other items. As far as comparing these 2 jeeps, Starwood is a better deal, NO? If Starwood is insanely priced at $50k, how is Collins not at $48k with less and NO SHIPPING?
Just curious....

I have a friend of mine paid about $50K for theirs and I paid $29K for mine and have exactly what I want without all that smittybuilt/ Pro Comp crap. I added a PS front bumper, rear bumper and tire carrier, Rubi rock rails, AEV lift and 35" tires and wheels for less than $7K. I've seen the Kevlar in person and IMO it doesn't look great.

These are all reasons why I WOULDNT consider one of these rigs and I am hoping you are thinking the same.

-So you spend twice as much on a rig that has no warranty on a liner that they install? Seems a bit sketchy to me.
-100 days? I know guys that can build full blown crawlers/racers in 100 days. These guys can't bolt together a jeep in a shorter time?
-This is the first thing that deterred me. These rigs must be built for the road. Just about everything listed should be addressed with a 4" lift...along with some things not listed.
-I dont know that I would consider Smittybilt and Procomp "top of the line"
- I feel bad for those 40 guys

Sorry if it seems harsh, but for guys that have ferraris and what not on their show room floor...I feel their ideas of a well-built rig are different than your typical offroad shop or typical wheeler.

I would build my own. Much more fun and much better deal. Jeeps are not worth $50K!! You wouldn't be able to sell that thing for much more than a stock JKU. Also your rig will look like every other Starwood Jeep. I like that mine has parts from many different vendors.

Those jeeps arent worth 50K...I am sure there are some out there that are truly worth every bit of 50K though I mean a fully loaded JKUR can be in the neighborhood of 40K.

I agree, but these are not even worth $32K. Those bumpers, sliders and lift are overpriced an I promise they get discounts and pass on the full retail + to the consumer. Same thing with Collins Bros.

Speak of the devil, I just saw one whilst making a beer run. This one was in Las Colinas, over by the Four Seasons.

I'll say they look neat in person, but 50 grand would also look neat in my bank account. Meh.

I'll admit, I have seen this Jeep driving in person and it is quite impressive looking. I am a fan of the look. And the pretty lady that was driving it.

If I knew I not only wanted a wrangler but I also was going to modify it then I would definitely visit a place like Starwood Motors. Assuming they do good work and know what they're doing, enjoying everything from day one and avoiding the self-install mod disasters would be worth the extra $$$ to me.

The problem is few people know that they plan to mod their wranglers. It's a bug that bites AFTER the purchase.

I prefer the, "built, not bought," type of modding... But I realize there are people out there who have more money than time so that's where the market is. I just don't like when people buy fully modded out vehicles & then brag about it.

To me, as long as someone is part of the Jeep family, who cares how they got there. If they bought instead of built, that doesn't mean they can't learn about their rig. They just choose a different path to get to the same destination.

I have a good friend that bought a Starwood-built Livestrong edition Jeep. He goes on the same trails as the other local Jeeps and does just fine. Plus he never has to worry about waxing it. That works in my book

When someone goes out & buys/does something, it doesn't bother me at all actually.

Couldn't agree more. I think not only the Jeep community but the US come use some more people like you.

But about Starwood, it may not be for everyone. But for the people that have the money and want a turnkey solution to joining the Jeep family with a badass rig, Starwood is a viable option.

i think they have some bad ass jeeps, but the pricing on these things are ridiculous.... all those parts can easily be obtained and installed onto any jeep by someone in their garage or by a skilled shop. FOR ALOT LESS... as someone else said these are for yuppies whom don't care about money and just buy it to say they have it, yet no nothing at all about it.

after looking at the interior in that good looking sahara tan model. how the F*** can they justify selling a vehicle like that with a 100% stock interior??? not even leather seating or upgraded sound system? BAHAHAHAHA

I guess the big question on if this is a good deal or not is the cost of their kevlar paint. I've never heard of anyone else doing this.

The lack of warranty on the paint is worrisome and I hate how the only information they have on their Kevlar paint is explaining its tensile strength when the paint isn't being used in a tensile application. I'd also like to know how much weight is added to the Jeep now that it has all that Kevlar and everything else on it. Other than that I think most of them look good.
