Steering Noise

I finished wheeling yesterday and I noticed a weird sound in nt steering tgat sounds like something is rubbing. My steering linkage all looked fine under the hood so I'm thinking maybe its something in my power steering pump? Its very bizzare. I hear it more often when I'm sitting still turning the wheel than if I was moving. Had anyone else had this issue?

I didn't hit the stabilizer I just checked that and it looks fine. my steering sounds a lot like a belt rubbing against something not really metallic.

I talked to one of my mechanic friends and he thinks its in the power steering pump. My power steering fluid is full and looks clean but he suggested it may need to be flushed but doubted that was the issue. I'm going to take it to the dealer this week and see if they can find the cause since its still under factory warranty. Hopefully its nothing major.

So, took the jeep to dealership and they took the power steering pump out and it "fell apart in their hands" so I think that was the problem. New part gets here on monday and its covered by factory warranty. They're giving me a loaner until then.

I'm glad I read this thread. My jeep just recently started doing that and I figured it was the power steering. However I figured I'd check the threads for folks with similar issues.
