steering stabilizer input wanted

Just had a 2" bds coil lift installed along with a bds steering stabilizer. Had to take off the steering stabilizer and replace with the stock one. Was doing 70 and hit a pot hole. front started to shake uncontrolable. Life passed in front of my eyes. Did this twice.

So now I am looking for a new steering stabilizer. Not bds. Lift is great so far.

I am going from 255/75 17 to 285/70 17 in less than a year.

I don't want a repeat of the above ss. heart cant take it.

What is a good one

This is a mall crawler now. Mostly highway (75/71/74/275) cincinnati. Pot hole city. Plan on doing trails and light mud in future.

I have the stock one now and when I hit a whole you can feel it vib then ok.

One more question. When is a double steering stabilizer needed. Huge tires. extream off road. Would it hurt/help on a daily drive jeep?

Thanks

We called bds and they said change the ss.
we did and it rides great now. checked torque 3 times. Had it aligned two times.
In shop 2 days retorque. Looking at ball joints track bar all were good.
Put in oem ss and runs great

Steering stabilizer wouldn't cause what you are describing. It could mask a bigger problem, which is what sounds like is happening now. A properly dialed in suspension should be able to ride just fine without a stabilizer at all.

x2... My jeep has been getting a little wandery, so I replaced the steering stablizer as I was replacing the rest of the shocks at the time. It was better for a while, but then it wore out, and its starting to wander again.

Just wait a couple weeks.

If there is a problem the SS wont handle it for long

If you have the print out from your alignment look at what the castor is set at. Stock castor and lifted castor are different. Also look at your track bar mounting bolt. See if the hole is ovaled out. It may be torqued properly now but may have been loose in the past.

Get the poly performance bolt kit. There is also a sticky dedicated to it.

125 for track bar and LCAs. 75 for UCAs.

This. There is something else causing your issue. If everything is correct a steering stabalizer shouldn't be needed. I drove mine around for the past two weeks without one while having my Teraflex steering stabalizer warrantied, it didn't handle any differently.

I hear this all to often, after explaining to the person and looking the suspension over I always seem to find something loose, out of adjustment or just worn out.

Mike.
