Have 2016 2 dr Rubicon with a 2" Mopar lift, AEV correction brackets, DuraTrac 315/70R 17 and Hellwig rear sway bar.
I have noticed the steering seems loose or vague on windy days. It wanders back and forth some you have to correct it in both directions. It has been aligned and everything is tight in the steering system. I am wondering if it is caused from flex in the factory front track bar. Will a heavy duty adjustable track bar help tighten up the "feel" of the steering
I have the Hellwig and it helped some, but for steering the best mod IMO is the Yeti drag link/tie rod with Griffin. I love my setup and handles the wind better than any other setup I have ever had.
How about a heavy duty steering stabilizer? I have an Old Man EMU and it really helped. No more side to side sway with my 35" tires and much better in the wind...
Yes I have installed the Hellwig rear swaybar already and it helped with lean but this is more of a steering thing. I had read some say a heavy duty trackbar firmed/ tighten up steering. I assume because it stop the flexing
I was reading up on the Hellwig and I saw a discussion where they stated the Hellwig can cause some oversteer depending on setup. I was planning on getting one for windy days, passing semis etc
I have the Teraflex Monster trackbars and Sport lower front flex arm and my steering is good. When we drove through Chicago I was getting blown around quite a bit and not usually the case where I live.
For the next road trip, The yeti drag link and tie rod with the Griffin Attenuator is on my short list too.
I was going to do a low clearance exhaust and while in there the Hellwig swaybar. I have a 2016 JKU.
I get blown around when it's really windy (symptom of living in the flatlands) I'll echo what most here are saying, I'm planning on going all yeti up front in the next couple of months.
It is a bit loose feeling even in non windy day too. It act like it is related to a bit of free play. Nothing seems to be loose. Looks like I would need a bottom mount drag link since I only have 2.5 inches of lift. I was hoping for a Yeti bottom mount in the HD series but looks like they only have the XD series in that configuration. That seems to be a bit overkill for my situation.
Update: installed a new stock drag link end because there was slight amount of play and it turns out it was toed out not toed in. Realigned and Fixed without any expensive parts. Steers well now!!
