Steering Wheel Radio Controls

I have a problem with the steering wheel control for radio on my 2011. I had it back once and again tomorrow because controls on back of steering wheel don't work and the left side on the front of the wheel doesn't work....Anybody else???

Thanks
Gail

This happened to me as well on a long road trip. Was irritated cause the vehicle is brand new. Found out the trick to fix it was to simply honk the horn. Works great now.

I've had this problem with Chrysler products in the past. I had a loaded 2001 Dodge Ram with the H.O. Cummins and right off the lot the steering wheel radio controls didn't work. It was an intermittent problem, which lead me to believe it was the wiring harness. I brought it back to the dealer and asked them to check the wiring. They didn't and said it was the clock spring on the steering wheel. I build hot rods as a hobby so I know a little about cars and told them it was the wiring. After 5 times back to the dealer for the same problem, they said it was a crimp in the wiring harness. I then reminded the service manager that is what I told him the first time and lambasted him about his lack of automotive knowledge.
Bring it back to the dealer and INSIST they check the wiring harness. When you pick it up check the controls before you leave the dealership service area. Chrysler is FAMOUS for getting the customers rear end back in the seat and the car off the lot ASAP even if it isn't fixed

My controls stopped at approx 3500 miles. Dealer was clueless and thought a patch would fix it. It didn't. After another 3000 miles and being very frustrated with the dealer, read a thread about honking the horn as well. It worked and I have had no problems since. I told the dealer about this and they basically blew me off.

Amazing, our controls stopped at 29,500 miles and after reviewing the previous post, I decided what the heck and tried it and they started working after I honked the horn. Thanks guys.

I had that happen on my 2011. The steering radio controls and menu buttons didn't work, but the cruise buttons did (on the right side). The dealer said there was a TSB regarding exactly those symptoms, and an update was uploaded to the module. That fixed it. I can't remember the bulletin number, but they called "loss of communication" to the module. It was a quick free fix, under warranty.

Can I revive this ancient thread? I tried the horn deal and it worked once. Now it won't work again.

I use the cruise control A LOT so this is pretty frustrating. I found the TSB also, but I'm obviously pretty far out of warranty. Think it's worth a try with a dealer or through Chrysler?
