Step by Step Video of Soft Top Install

Anyone have a link to a good video of the soft top install, tried to install yesterday (Sunday) and having difficulty with rear window install so swing out door shuts correctly to seal. Thanks!

Try taking the bar out (from the bottom of the rear window) and flip it around.

Oh~ also check the plastic pieces that clip onto either side of the body tub and the ends of the bar slip into. It's easy to get them criss-crossed and they'll keep the bar from fitting properly.

My initial install from out of the box took a long time and the pictures in the instructions helped very little. I ended up playing around with it until I got all the pieces in the right places by the process of elimination. If I remember correctly, it took a little bit of a stretch to get the rear window and rear top pieces to lock in. It got easier as the top heated in the mid day sun and relaxed a bit.

DUH, maybe you could try to be more helpful. The instructions in the Jeep manual are completely not helpful. My manual does NOT show the upper arms clicking into the recieveron the top of the jeep. My manual does NOT show which way the rear bar should slide into the rear window ... and on and on.

The OP asked a simple question. Go read the manual, when the manual is bad, is not helpful.

/sigh - more flip non answers ......

searching for "jeep JK soft top install" only brings up the one by jeep, which is NOT an install, but a how to put the top up and down.

There were a few more videos, but none showed how to install the side panels into the door frame, or how the bar on the rear window attaches.

yah.. not easy putting those on. realized.. on the yj that you have to have the two bars down on the side.. oie. Makes it much easier. Hard tops are som much easier.. drive underneath it. and lower it down.. and screw in.

Thanks for the video link.

Although it was filmed for a TJ, the process should/hopefully be similar for a JK. I did notice that the parts for the TJ in the video and what I'm looking at on the floor of my garage of all the parts of my just received JK Supertop NX, there appears to be quite a difference between the two.

Hey could you let us know how the install goes? That's the top I decided on, but haven't ordered it yet. Did u get a decent price on it? Best I've seen is $770. Thanks

I'll be happy to post my results on getting the top on. It will be a week or so. Unfortunately, the top arrived with a broken bow, most likely from shipping. I think I paid $8 something for the top. Are you sure the $770 is for a Supertop NX or a Trektop NX? I think there is about a $100 difference between the two. $770 would be great for a Supertop NX.

This is an old topic, but having just bought my own Jeep, I've been searching around for a good video on this topic. My jeep has the dual top and I couldn't find anything saying what all the soft top parts were for or how to install them properly (the "manual" leaves a lot to be desired). This video:

helped some.
