Stock Battery

Only in a Jeep . A quick inquiry about the stock battery in my 2010 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited . I figure after a year and a half it's about time to start looking for a replacement . I have never been a fan of stock batteries . Any advice on a replacement for the stock unit. Heard a lot of good things about the Ultima(red top) and heard some negative remarks as well . Any wisdom from gurus up on top , would be appreciated !

No "GEL" batteries--getta Sears "Diehard Platinum-P4"-(AGM)-

Plus it comes with 100 month (prorated) coverage !

I'll replace the battery in my 10 Rubi at year 3. I haven't had any problems, coming up on 2 yrs. now. I'll go with either the Sears Die Hard Platinum or Odyssey batteries. Haven't actually decided yet.

Yeah, it's the twin of the Odessey -same group, so you'll have to look at costs/warranty/free replacement-

My '08 just went thru the 3 yr date and the battery is still PRIMO, so I'm not looking yet-

When it dies then change it. Unless it's giving you problems now.

I'd go with a YellowTop or, better yet, a pair of YellowTops.
If you plan to winch or run lights, these are the way to go.

I've heard that the Optima batteries you are talking about are very good & last a long time. I, personally, have never try one. I always got die hard batteries from sears. I get the gold line ones. 3 years free replacement & 5 years pro-rate after that. Can't go wrong. Usually the battery last between 2-3 years for me so I get a free replacement!

The DieHard Golds are made by Optima's parent company.
The Platinums are made by Enersys.

I run an optima marine blue top. Same basic specs as the yellow but I'm told that the marine batteries stand up better to vibration. Working great so far through the cold Alaskan winters.

Yeah, me to. I have an aux battery I carry when I go camping/trouting, or out for any distance and it's a group 34 Optima Blue top, that I use for my fishing boat and it will swap with my jeeps stocker !

Which P# fits the 11/12' JK? P2, 4? I guess which group size is what I'm asking fits under the hood without having to redo all the leads to lengthen them. My optima I have will require a splice for the leads and I don't want to do that. Instead its going in a Taylor box in back with lines to the Diehard. Any recommends? The P2 has the 135 hr reserve time, 990 CC amps but will the bugger fit?

I just purchased a 2012 wrangler and had a 2 week old diehard p2 and desperately want to know if it will fit. I bring the jeep home tomorrow and can't wait, but Id like not to waste such a good new battery if i can help it.

Oddyessy or Diehard Platinum, Optima yellow top or Northstar deep-cycle batteries are all top notch to run if you have lots of accessories and planning on running a winch.

Any of those batteries are a great idea, whether or not you ever even think of a winch !

I've had my stock battery since I bought my wrangler 6 years ago. This week it just started to give me grief. But for the last 6 years I've had no problems. I went to sears today and bought the die hard gold based off of rave reviews. I'll update y'all on how it does.

The battery in my '09 died a couple of months ago. I replaced it with an Advance Auto gold. It was less money and had a better warranty than the Diehard.

I had over 87,000 on my '08 when I traded it last year. It was less than 3 years old. (and had an Optima in it that was going strong...)
