Stock Rubicon wheels?

Does anyone know what size tires I can fit on stock Rubicon 17in wheels. I want to lift the Jeep 3-4inchs and place 35in. tires on my stock wheels. Please tell me this is possible, please.

I called 4wd.com and they told me it wasn't possible on the 17in stock rims. I'm getting different information. I don't see why its not possible I've seen 20in wheels on a Rubicon with 35in tires?

you can place 35/12.50 tires on the Rubi's stock wheels.. hell I've seen 37/12.50s on the stockers. You likely need 1.25" or 1.5" wheel spacers to prevent rubbing even with your lift.

The stock rims are only 7.5 inches wide the widest recommended tire would be
285/75R17 that would be 11.2 x 34.. Most 35 are 12.5 inch wide.

its the width of the wheels........at 7.5 inches wide no reputable tire installer is gonna advise you to put 12.50s on a 7.5 inch wide rim......its doable but not recomended......285/70-17 will fit on a 7.5 inch wide rim and is near 33 inches tall and about 11-11.5 inches wide......you may have to run a 1 inch spacer to clear sharp turns but ya might be ok....frankly I have been lookin at tires and wheels and honestly Im gonna go with some 15 inch wheels .....the lower cost of the 15 inch tires nearly pays for the wheels ...its a no brainer.......g

I've read that not all 15s will fit over the discs on a JK.. I'm planning on going with 16x8 rims after I wear out the stock tires.

I hadnt heard that.......easy enough ta figure out tho.......I have some 15 inch wheels in garage.......next time I have a wheel off Ill slide one over the disc to make sure...cant bolt em up as they are Chevy wheels but they are typical 15 inch wheels none the less.....Id find it hard to believe as the discs/caliper arnt that big but I know far less than everything

Front discs are 11.9 inch plus whatever room the caliper takes up. On my stock 16 inch rims, there is not enough room to put my finger between the caliper and the rim.

The main problem with wider tires on stock JK rims is the amount of back spacing. I believe there's 5.5" of backspacing on all JK wheels. That's why they use metric versions of the tires so there won't be any rubbing on the frame or control arms. With the JK's rear upper control arms so far out on the axle they would get into them and rub in a big way. Which is why someone mentioned the use of spacers if you wanted to keep your stock rims on bigger tires.
