Stock tire carrier

Ok first off Ive been using my phone for the past 30 minutes to search this, because I know it's been covered. I just can't seem to find it at the moment. So sorry for the repost.

I just pulled my stock tire carrier off along with my heavy 33" general grabbers. It was just too much for the tailgate. Now I'm left with finding something to cover up the holes. Any ideas?

I placed the screws back in, but I need some type of rubber grommet for the two bump stops and where the wiring went through for the third brake light. I went to Ace Hardware with no luck. What have y'all been using?

Also is there a plate or something of the sort that I can be placed where stock tire carrier was? Just something to dress it up a little.

Put the bolts that held the bumpstops back in, and there is probably a plug inside the door that can be used to fill the hole from the 3rd brake light wiring. At least there is on TJ's...

The bump stops I'm talking about are just pushed in the door. They are not held in by screws. And I just ran outside and looked in the door. I couldn't really tell but I didn't see anything jumping out at me.

You can get rubber hole plugs at Lowes if you want to go that route. I don't remember the size off hand.

Poison spyder makes a tramp stamp to cover the rear tailgate.

What happened to your tailgate?

Hrmmmm.... You may have to go the Lowe's route then. I haven't really looked at the tailgate on our JK much.... (It's his..... )

The Jk/JKU tailgates have ˝" holes for the bumpstops and they just have the rubber foot "Squeeze" in to holdem !!

I just used bigger bumpstops to hold my 33.6" Hankook spare in place--fine !

I just went to lowes and asked 3 different employees and they all looked at me like I was dumb. Same thing at Orieley's.

With all the aftermarket gadgets available for these jeeps I'm surprised a half a dozen companys doesn't make anything.

I have 33x12.5r17 general grabbers( the red letter ones) and I have a set of procomp alloys and that tire/wheel combo is heavy!!!! Not sure of the exact weight though. Had them on there two weeks with daystar bumpstops and the tailgate was making all kinds of noise. So I just removed it till I get a aftermarket rear tire carrier.

Does anyone else offer something like the tramp stamp from poison spyder?

Check out the Vector Offroad rear UFOs. If I wasn't on my phone I'd post a link for you. But just Google it.

The Hankook Dynapro/Procomp 8089 weigh 83 lbs and I've used the daystar bumpstops and a little downforce eliminator "BOLT"

That "BOLT" is a really good idea. I will have to see if I can work that into my stock bumper.

I really would like to keep the tire on the back but ever since I started running it on the carrier ( 2 weeks ago), my tailgate has been making all kinds of noise. The slightest bump in the road will make it sound awful.

You might try wrapping the tailgate "Latch" LOOP on the opening left side--wrao with electrical tape--4/6 wraps--that'll probably cut down the "rattle"

The bolt is just a 5/8"x 1˝Galvanized, Carriage bolt with two nylocks to adjust the height--

No plan for the install--just figure where it can go(symetrically), beneath the spare and it just provides a minimal "downforce" support to take the vertical load off the hinges !!
