Storage cart

Would anyone have plans for a cart that would store a hardtop and doors? I checked out quadratec and their prices are ridiculous. Actually all places are expensive. Any ideas other than a lift that hangs from the ceiling?

Do a search on the forum. I found a thread with good plans for a cart built from pipe. hard top storage cart
Even usta have pitchers. We spent about $90 at Home Depot and voila, works like a champ.

A couple of notes though. The plans call for holding casters onto the pipe with u-bolts. We found that you needed a small piece of wood between the casters and the pipe to make it stay firmly in place. Otherwise the casters tend to slip around the pipe.

Plan to use some locktite on the pipes once you get them set just right. Otherwise you will be forever tightening the many joints.

We used some pipe insulation sleeves covered with duct tape to cushion the pipes and prevent them scratching the top.

Total time to build was about 2 hours. Works great.

Actually, heavy schedule PVC pipe is more than strong enough to handle the weight of the top & doors, it's lite, & fairly inexpensive. I've seen furniture made out of it. Oh, at the lake last summer I saw a jet ski dolly made out of it. Pretty sure the jet ski weighed more than a hard top & doors.

Kinda harsh right there OP. If you had a great idea you wouldn't have started this thread. Derek didn't say that you should put a timer & pop-up sprinklers on it.

I have a great idea for you too but I think I'll keep it to myself, wouldn't want to get ridiculed on the WWW.

Good grief.....
