Storage ideas

What do you guys have to expand your storage either inside and/or out side your Wranglers? We tend to carry a lot of stuff, and the Wrangler seems to be a little tight on space. Especially for when we go camping, we bring a lot of gear with us.

Thanks

i made a "trunk" took the back seat out and made a cover so that i have an area in between the wheel well and then i can stack on top of that... i have seen a cargo rack bolted to the roll bar, or on spare tire carriers. there are a few threads on here with things, but i didnt have any luck finding them again

How do you mount that? Does it come with a "bar" of sorts, or something that mounts it up there? I did see that on there site, but I was curious how it mounts.

JRose: when I first glanced at that photo, it looked like plastic bags with duct tape - like you were smuggling cocaine.

But that was just me not paying attention - it looks great.

I love the MOLLE systems. You can find additional accessories at most any army surplus store.

Another storage idea that we use. We buy up used CD/Walkman/Gaming/Video zippered accessory cases at yard sales or thrift stores. You can find them priced as low as $.25 in just about every shape or size. You can use these to store recovery items, tools, first aid, extra clothes, rain gear, etc. We shove them under the seats, beside the seats, or anywhere we find a few extra square inches of space. Most have straps so you can secure them when you hit the trails.

I hope Rose doesn't mind me responding. It actually isn't velcro. The storage pockets are actually laced/woven through the core "MOLLE" system. They are BEYOND secure and wouldn't come off, even in an accident. You can find videos on youtube explaining the "MOLLE" systems.

I bought a set of these:

GEAR seat covers by SHittybuilt.
They aren't all that, believe me but they are better than toting several tail bags around.

If I had it to do over again I would probabaly not have bought them.

It's mounted permanently, so when the top's down, it does have the "T" top affect. The fabric comes in tan, black, and ACU pattern. Being former Army, I opted for the ACU.

When you say it is mounted permanently, do you dave to screw it in place? Does it come out easily? Can you still access the front hard tops to tak ethem off?

Thanks

I use military ILBE packliners and clip them around the roll bar.

Not the cheapo drawsting type from WWII, the Seal Line ones made in Seattle for the USMC. Completely waterproof, easy to use and lightweight.

I have 6 of big bags and even more of the small MACS bags. The "Assault" liner has a blaze orange interior for use as an emergency signal panel.

Pretty damn cool. Cascade Designs customer service can locate a dealer for you or you can buy them at military base stores if you're enlisted. Check thier website for details. Marines have had them for the past 5 years, just hit the public stores.

Yeah, it's screwed into where the footman's loop is and then it secures to the speaker bar.
