I just installed the Harken hoist 7803 last week. Works like a charm. Very easy to use and quick to take the hardtop off. I highly recommend it.

That's probably what I'm going with. Saw in another thread:
Harken Hoister 7803B - Harken Hoister Garage Storage 4-Point Lift System for Jeep® Hardtops & Recreational Equipment - Quadratec

Is that the same one?

Just installed the Harken ordered from Quadretec.

Makes taking the top off very easy. The set up is a little nerve racking getting the lines set up and the knots correct but in the end it was worth it.

I ordered a RACOR, but it won't be here till Tues.

It's not purpose built for the task, but it will allow the storage of the Freedom Panels and other light items on top of the rack (up to 250 lbs total).

http://www.wranglerforum.com/f33/jus...-top-74362.htm

Was my inspiration.

I do have a point to add to this and you can take or leave it. The strap tends to compress the back hinge points to the rear window and can pop them off or break them. I threw away the straps and got some thin 1" chain link fence pole, cut them to extend 8" to either side.
Next:
1. Drill through the ends of the poles (x2) and fit them with eyebolts.
2. Along the length of the tube cover with pipe insulation for cushioning and scratch resistance then wrap with Gorilla or Duct tape. The sharper edges of the top will cut through the foam insulation, this prevents this.
3. Get 4 carabiners to attach to the Rope ends of the lift (NO ALUMINUM), get steel ones. This makes it easy to attach to the eyebolts. Took me 20 mins top to get my Hard Top off day before yesterday so I could get my spiderweb on.
