Storing hardtop with liftglass open

Is this a bad idea? I am installing a Harken hoist for my top to the ceiling. It will not be possible to close the lift glass after hoisting due to the straps that run through the top and out the rear window. I thought I heard that the shocks on the windows do not like to be left extended. Am I dreaming this up or is this true.

I have been storing mine that way for 4 years. I always thought that since the majority of the time the top is on the Jeep it is closed, that leaving them extended sort of balanced that out!

I agree should not be a problem to leave open but the straps are so thin that i would think you could close it and it would be fine also.

Thanks guys eases my mind. I would close it but I plan on using pool noodles where the straps go to prevent seal damage making it impossible to close the window. I know probably paranoid again but I figured it couldn't hurt.
