Strap BROKE on Soft Top!!! HELP!

Hi all,

I tried to take my soft top off my 4-door today for the first time. I had a little trouble, but didnt pull hard on anything. When I put the top back on, I noticed the straps on BOTH sides dangling.

These straps are the check straps that run on the inside of the driver side and passenger side on the top. It popped off the rivits on the front most bow.

I cant pop it back on, and my dealer said it isnt covered under warranty....

Any thoughts?

That happened to me too right after I got my '07 X, just on one side though.
I just drilled another hole and refastened the strap to the bow with a small bolt and some flat washers, has been fine since. I've noticed the other side starting to tear loose from the rivet too so I'm guessing I'll have to do it there too.

Good fix, did the exact same thing on mine when they broke, it's cheap how Chrysler designed it but won't break there again now.

To keep everyone in the loop.

At first I fixed it with Tie-wraps, which worked pretty well. I called the dealer I bought it from, and they said it wasnt covered under warranty....

I took it to a different dealer, they said it absolutely was covered, and they fixed it today free of charge.
