BTW, I was just talking to my buddy from up-state NY and he told me that back home that deer were considered "property of the state" and NY paid for any damage resulting from hitting one!!!

My state would be broke tomorrow!
That's correct. What usually happens is the damage is covered by your insurance company under comprehensive (fire, theft, vandalism) then the insurance company goes to the state to get the money back.

As far as taking the deer, in Upstate NY a few years back they had a stop on taking deer because Chronic Wasting Disease was found in a bunch of them. So if a deer was killed in a certain area, you couldn't get a tag and as a matter of fact, most were seized for testing. Once they had a handle on it, they stopped seizing and testing but still wouldn't issue tags.

Not yet! Got home around 7:00pm last evening. Exhausted from the heat and the trip. It was very nice meeting you too! He is going to sand it down and spray it like he did his grill. Hope to have it bolted on by the weekend! Thanks again!! Glad it worked out the way it did!
