Stupid front upper shock bolts...

Seriously chrysler? The upper shock mounts are such a bitch! And to add on top of it, I snapped the studs on both sides. I guess Im not using the shock extension in the BB kit I was installing, lol. Hmmm what shocks to order now.

Anyone else have problems with the front shock uppers? I had this same problem with my TJ a few years ago. I ended up cutting the shocks out on that one.

yea, I read through a post on another forum. This guy had the exact same problem. Front upper studs snapped almost at the top 3/4s up.
I could probably still use them though. The shock extensions in the Teraflex BB screw right on to the top stud. At least it will work for a few days till my new shocks get in. Im gonna check in the morning and see how much stud is left compared to how much actually threads into the extensions. If it looks safe enough for a few days of driving to work and home then so be it.

4 Teraflex shocks ordered from quadratec....problem solved, lol

I'm confused. What studs did you snap? Are you talking about the top of the shock? The nut on top of the shock is the only thing you need to remove on the top. The only difficult pat there is the access space. It just takes some time and patience to remove that nut.

Yep, while removing those nuts the stud that those nuts screw on to sheared off.

And this all happened pretty much at the end of the day, I was all done with the lift and all I had left was to reinstall the front swaybar links. Then this crap happens.. lol

Did you secure the NUT underneath the bottom spacer disc

That will keep from putting undue torque on the Shock-Shaft !!

Yea I had a open end nice and snug in there. I could only get about a 1/4 turn each time on the nut with a open end. They were coming off pretty well, then all of a sudden a couple turns seemed like the nut was getting harder to turn, then everything fell apart. At first I though was done. I was like phew that was a bitch, then I looked down and saw the broken stud.

Remember, we're supposed to call/treat our jeeps as FEMALE and they just don't like to be cussed at !

Don't cuss when you're in 4lo/sand, or

You may have to stand by "THE TREE" till things cooldown !!

Installing my lift, those shocks were a mf'er. 3 years worth of rust, no patience, and poor design, I grindered 3 of the 4 off can't wait to do it again when I upgrade shocks.
