Sun rider feature on the Trektop NX

So I had the sun rider folded back and laying on the rear portion of the soft top. I noticed on the highway the front edge of it was blowing all over the place and sort of bubbling up. I guess I was expecting it to lay pretty flat and not really be affected by the wind like it was. I kept thinking the wind may rip the soft top. I had the two straps tight and the bar was solid but I was getting a lot of soft top flapping from that portion where the sun rider folds. Anyone else witness this with theirs. Just wonder if I need to do more than just fold it back. But that's how I've seen and read it's done.

Something is not right. I am trying to visualize mine since I am not in front of it but you definitely should not be experiencing what you describe. It should lie flat and unless its a crazy cross wind it should barely move. Only thing that comes to mind (assuming it was installed correctly) is make sure when you fold in back that it doesn't pinch of the sides and ripple. That might be your problem. I always check that its lying flat and hasn't creased or pinched before driving off. If it is, check the cause. Maybe tension on springs or clip underneath.
Sorry couldn't be of more help but keep looking because we use ours almost everyday and its fine.

Yea there is definitely rippling going on along the edges where the sunrider bars on each side lay over the top.
You mentioned a clip underneath, what clip are u referring to? I have both nylon straps tight and inserted where the freedom top hold down screws go. That held the bar in place and was solid. But the soft top right above the bar is where all the flapping was going on to the point where the soft top was material was almost raising up and causing excess soft material to rise up in the wind.

Are those springs supposed to pull the top tight when the sun rider is open? If so then I don't think that's happening. I know they can be adjusted. Might have to try that.

When the sunrider is closed it is super tight. And works as it should. But I didnt like what saw when opened.

I'll mess with it more.

I'm having the same problem, but without the flapping. It just bunches up and looks bad. I've pulled the sides out to make it flat(ish), but as soon as I drive it rises up again. Looking for a solution when I saw your post. I'm thinking maybe a bungee chord? If I find something I'll post it here.

I am having the same issue. It bubbles up in the middle and pulls from the sides and is a mess. I found a temporary solution of 6 binder clips to hold the two pieces of the fabric together at the edges. Keeps it from bunching up but I still get a ton of bubbling at highway speeds. I have checked my installation and I think everything is correct.

Forgive me if this isn't helpful (I don't have a Trektop NX, but I have the regular Mopar soft top (non-premium) with sunrider).

With mine, you have to lift the front of the frame until it's straight up, then tuck the middle of the fabric back into the fold of the frame. I do it on both sides. Then Velcro it down on both sides. Nothing flaps.

The Trektop may be made differently. I know my wife's sunrider for hardtop doesn't need to be tucked or velcro'd.

I think I figured it out. See the pics. And the springs have nothing to do with tension when the sunrider is folded open. It adds tension to the top when it's closed. Anyway, I folded the loose part of the soft top under the main attach bar. See pics. Does anyone else do it this way?

The bungee wraps around the sport bar in front of the sound bar, it hooks to itself, then stretches across the roof and repeat. I put it on with the sunrider flipped open, to know it was forward enough. I took it for a test ride at all speeds up to 60 and it stays put.

So I finally got to test out the sunrider feature in the opened position with the excess material folded under the main attach bar, as shown in my pics above. This worked great. No more bubbling of material or flapping around. The top stayed tight and in place.
