I sit and lean my chair back further than most people. One little annoyance is the fact that the sun visor doesn't cover the full length of the driver side door when fully extended. Does anyone have any mods they have done or added something to acheive full coverage. Please post what you have done. I'm looking for options.
I've found a product called visor buddy but was still looking for other options.
Never understood why manufacturers don't have them extend the full length of the door.
My Ridgeline did and I'm missing that feature on the Jeep.
$70 for a panel with two straps?! Pretty outrageous. I'll look for something better and cheaper. An actual replacement visor that extends all the way back would be the ideal solution.
Because the sun is always shining right where that gap is. I have the same problem. My truck and my car both have visors that extend to the B piller, ensuring complete coverage. This is a tall person problem. Maybe you're not so tall.
Sometimes I just shake my head with the stupid questions people ask, when I clearly stated I sit further back to the point where the sun visor does not extend and offer shade from the sun. For those that sit closer to the steering wheel the visor may extend far enough for them to provide the coverage they need.
I agree that the price tag is a bit steep but for the life of me I can't stand the sun hitting me from the side like it does. It has to be one of my biggest annoyances.
I'm currently on the road renting a Jeep Renegade and even the visors in it have the extendable visor with the built in additional slide out visor for extra shade length. Why they didnt incorporate this into the Wrangler I will never know. An easy fix on the part of Jeep will ultimately cost me an additional $65. Ridiculous, I know, but worth it to me.
Sometimes people ask questions in order to clarify exactly what it is you are having an issue with. You said you needed full coverage and said it doesn't cover the full length of the door. That suggests you want a two and a half foot long visor. That's different from needing a small extension to bring coverage further back. Looks like you found the best solution for you. I went a different route, but I'm only 6' 1.:thumb:
I agree. The price is a little high but the workmanship is great and they do what they are supposed to. And how much is your comfort and safety worth? I have no relationship with the company. Just a satisfied customer.
I've got a '15 JK Rubicon and the sun through the driver's side window drives me crazy. I've read this thread and....
.....wait a minute. I have an idea. I just thought of something as I was typing this. Be right back.

Well...... son of a .......
I was going to complain about the sun in my eyes through the driver's side window and how, for the entire past year, it was such a pain for me without that little extendable panel that comes out of the visor like my last car had. And, in the middle of that complaint, a thought! An idea! Hmmmm..... I wonder.
So I go out to the Jeep to look and test my theory. Sure as $h!+. As previously determined, my visor does not have a little extendable panel. What it does do is slide and extend along the integral support/guide rod.
Never mind! My bad. [emoji32]
It's a good thing I'm smart! Otherwise, I might have gone ANOTHER year with the sun in my eyes! [emoji12]
I bought the Jeep side sun shades from a dealer. They work great, are well made, and easy to install and use. When I think about the cost, I think about all the years I will use them and the driving comfort they will provide. Well worth the cost. JWL
I had no idea Jeep has a side shade. I ended up getting the Eklips as suggested. Couldn't be happier. They work great and stay put. Also look good when not in use.
