Sunrider clip broke

So the weekend was beatiful and I decided it was time to drop the top for the first time on my new '14 2 door, and man was it great. However, when it came time to put the top back up, the clip on the frame of the soft top on the drivers side that the the pin goes through to hold the top on when in sunrider mode broke off. I'm not really sure how it happened but the piece seems like it is really cheapo plastic. Anyone else have issues like this? Doesn't really give to much confidence over how well it will hold up in the long term. Gonna give the dealer a call and hopefully they will have the part to pop back on.

That has happened to me too. I have a Bestop but they are essentially the same. Its an easy fix if they'll give you the part. It never happened again if that is any consolation.

Thanks for the link but the 4 doors are actually different from the 2 door. Here is the piece for the 2 door MOPAR 68032496AA - MOPARĀ® Soft Top Side Bow Lock for 07-10 JeepĀ® Wrangler JK - Quadratec
For how cheap it is I am almost considering just buying it and skipping the dealer altogether.

Why not bring it to the dealer first and attempt get the replacement part under warranty? If you go in there and tell them "this POS broke under normal conditions" they should replace it.

EDIT: Never mind, looks like you're already doing that. I barely skimmed the post before I saw everyone shopping around.

Definitly gonna give the dealer a call first. I actually have a leak somewhere and water is getting to the drivers side under the floor mat, so I need to take it anyways, however it is pretty minor and I have been putting it off since I hate to be without this thing!

So I ordered a replacement a while back and everything was good to go. Today we have another beautiful day so I decide to drop the top for the first time since I last had it down. What do I notice? The damn clip is broke AGAIN. Same spot, right around the screw hole the plastic is cracked. WTF. Not sure what could possibly be causing this. Since I replaced the first one I have been extremely careful while driving with it open to not go above about 40mph without opening the back window. The last one I ordered online to avoid a trip to the dealer but this time its going back.

The first one that broke was actually pulling out of the frame, this one is still tight but its cracked around the screw so I'm betting it was go any time. I wonder how many peoples are cracked like that and don't notice it.

Mine broke in the same place and the dealer is telling me that I have to drop it off for a day so they can diagnose the problem. Then they will order the part and then I need to drop it off again because they have to install it. I even stopped in and showed them the part but they still want me to schedule an appointment.

They also told me that they have to order the entire bar and they can't order the part alone. I explained to them that even though Manufacturer Part No: 68032496AA only list 07-13 it will also work on 14's. The part is $4 and they are acting like I am trying to get a new motor out of them.

I love my Jeep but I have yet to find a good Chrysler dealer in the area

Also C'mon Chrysler a part like this that is under tension and you make it out of cheap plastic ?

This is exactly why I just said screw it the first time and paid the $4 for the part rather than deal with the dealer.
And that was my thought was well, these 2 clips are literally the only thing holding the top on when the sunrider is open, and they are the cheapest plastic you can get.

FYI I installed the new one and it lasted 3 days before it broke on the drivers side again. Time to have a metal one fabricated..

Did you ever fab anything up? I was actually just searching google to see if anyone had done this and this thread popped up. Never even saw your reply. I haven't made it back to the dealer yet since I really don't use the sunrider much, but I have little faith in another replacement holding up.
