Sunrider models?

Ok, I am so very new to this... I bought my Jeep used, it's a 2009 Wrangler 2 door. How do I know if I have a sunrider model? And if I do, what does that mean? Like I can just flip the top back like a sun roof?

Okay, above the doors there should be a plastic sleeve that slides forward if you have a sunrider model, that will allow you to open only the sunrider.

There is a clip to release it too on each side, then two velcro straps MUST be attached to secure it before driving.

Mine didn't come with velcro straps and it's been on 600 mile trips with no problems.

Yeah I use the velcro on the back to top in place when its off, I would recommend opening the back window or at least unzip it.

The clips on the side release the entire front of the top. You undo those when you want to drop the top completely. They stay clipped when you use the sun rider feature.

I'll reiterate what people have said above. But just be cautious when you fold it back. My top is not much older than a month and a half and I've already discovered some pin size holes on the passenger side of the top from catching between the hinge when I've folded it back on top of itself. I find it's easier when it's folded in a Z sort of pattern.

And although a hassle, it's probably best to use the velcro straps. I was in a rush and forgot all about them, but was quickly reminded when I approached a semi from behind. The airflow was directed just perfectly to get right under and it just about took off.

Glad I can help.

No point in suffering through mistakes other people have already made before.

All new ones do. Don't remember what year it was added, but the older JKs don't have it.

They all had it as an option. It became standard in 2010.
