So how do you adjust the settings on the Flashpaq to make it work. Ive got upgraded wheels and tires and havent made any changes on the programmer...is that why it isnt working or im not seeing a difference?

Probably, yes. What size are your new tires? Do you have an auto transmission or a manual?

I have this Superchip and programmed it for my 37's and 5.38 gears. What other settings should I look at changing? Thanks.

Bull_in_JK - there are many settings. When you go under settings - you can change your shift ratios. So you can do economy, tow, 92 octane, 87 octane, etc.. See which one fits your preference. I ended up using "Tow" all the time. I have the 5.13 gears and 32" tires, auto.

Also, I had a terrible time with my TPMS dinging me all the time even though my pressure was good. You can use the superchip programmer to turn that off.

You can purchase a way to change your shift points. I really like this, but my only issue is you can not change when you go into 4th gear or overdrive.

My Jeeps seems to be "at home" at 68. It was 63 before the re-gear. I wish I could bring that more up to 72/75.

Will any of these chip tuners allow you to change the automatic transmission shift in to OD? I would like to drop the allowed speed from 45 to 40.

Many allow you to change shift points, which is what I think you're asking. But I believe it will based on RPM or gearing, not speed.

He posted in the Tj area also, do you have a Tj or a JK?

He wants to go into OD sooner.
I think that could be done changing shift points with a tuner.

Sorry if I am in the wrong section. my 06 sport is a TJ with a 42RLE. The transmission is speed limited on the OD shift to 45 mph. That is the ticket speed on my commute. The RPM drops from 2200 to 1500 with the shift. The terrain is flat. It can't "learn" a quicker shift because of the 45 mph requirement. That may be controlled by a separate chip.

OD Settings

I found the SuperChip programmer does not allow you to change the overdrive shift point. You can lower all your other settings, but not when overdrive engages. I was trying to raise when OD would kick in, because mine kicks in around 55-60 and if it is windy outside, I can't maintain speed at 70. That has been my beef with the Jeep/3.8L.

I don't mind the offroading power, and up to 60 it is all good. But above 60 the Jeep bites!! I have tried almost everything - cold air intake, upgraded spark plugs, programmer, re-gear to 5.13.

The bottom line here is the 3.8 is a crappy engine and doing all the things above just makes it an OK engine. I STILL can't maintain 70 in OD on a windy day (30+mph) going over an overpass without shifting out of OD.

BTW - I find the setting I like best is the tow package.

My jeep has no big frills - I run a true 32" wheels, winch, 3" lift, couple of lights.

Can't you just turn the OD off? Or does that run your RPMs too high?

I have a six speed 2010 with 3.21 gears and 33x12.5R15s, and I just don't use 6th. Works fine--no problems keeping 70+ mph on the highway or passing folks going uphill. My highway cruising RPM is about 2400 in 5th. If I desperately need power I downshift to 4th and spin 3500+.

Well, my thought is you buy a car with the full expectation that it can go 70 without coming out of overdrive. It just doesn't make sense that it can not maintain a normal speed in normal operation. Even after $2k of aftermarket mods, you still can't stay at 70.

So yes, I can and must run out of od to keep 70mph. It just hard to believe the engine is so underpowered that I must run it out of od and get 13 mpg on the highway.

Personally, I wish I would have got the manual just for the reason you state above.

Not really under powered but rather under geared. Since going to 4.88 gears, I have no problem staying in overdrive at 70mph or passing at highway speeds

Agreed - not under powered as the 2012 have even smaller engines. I did re-gear to 5.13 gears and still have high end issues.

I think the real culprit is the transmission gears.

Again, on a calm day it does great at 68-70 and I can get 17mph hwy. But I still pop out of overdrive on small hills/overpasses. Of course with wind that compounds everything - it is common to have 20-30mph winds here.

Let me back up another step and state I still love the Jeep, and compared to my old CJ-7 these JK's are GREAT. So don't take my complaining wrong here, but who did this testing for Jeep? I can tell you it was not a Jeep enthusiast, I'm sure it was some pencil pusher stating this motor should be sufficient!!!

The only reason that I know of to change back to stock setting is if you have to take your jeep back to dealer to have engine work and they have to do a diagnostic check, they will change it back to stock settings. You need to do this before taking it in.

I can accelerate while in overdrive now and notice more response off idle. I changed to the 87 tune, tpms to 26 and adjusted my tire size. I was hoping it would let me change the Tpms to 15 psi, anyone know if they will let me download that from the web?

Anybody have a recommendation of what I should change next?

Hi fellow jeepers i just tuned my 2011 jk 4dr auto with a superchip flashpaq 3870. From stock to 91 tune, my jk is totaly stock apart from a 2.5 inch lift. Sceptical as i am i jumped in and test drove it, i found the lower gears hang on longer so better pick up (even chirped the wheels changing from 1st to 2nd) top end on the open rd while passing a 36metre roadtrain rolling start 90kph by the time i reached the front of the truck speedo was reading 170kph and climbing. I am extreamly happy. As for economy i think if you dont put fuel in it you end up staying in your drive way.
