It should have tunes on it, but they recommend connecting it to the internet and downloading the most recent tunes before connecting it to your Jeep. I'm not sure what they tweak on them, but you're probably better off with the newest tune you can get.

It comes with tunes pre-installed. However, you may need to update the handheld unit to work with your specific Jeep. It all depends upon the CALID (firmware) of your Jeep's PCM (computer). Superchips needs to have a tune based on your CALID and that tune needs to already be installed on your handheld unit for it to work out of the box. There are dozens of CALIDs for each model year and Chrysler doesn't just give away a big .zip file of these away to anyone who wants to program for one. Anyhow, if Superchips has a tune, but your handheld was manufactured before the tune was available, you need to update to get the tune. Sometimes, you have a Jeep that has a CALID that Superchips hasn't come across yet. In that case, you need to update the handheld, sync your vehicle (and discover the tune doesn't work), and then sync the handheld to your computer again to upload your CALID to Superchips. They then write a tune based on your CALID and email you when that update is available. This is how Superchips acquires more and more CALIDs to tune for and are part of what is contained in the updates to the handheld. My tune (2013 JK auto-trans built 05/2013) took 48 hours to turn around which is pretty good in my opinion.

OK .. I posted this screen shot earlier. Not sure what happened. Mods? If you have a problem with this let me know.

I don't see anywhere on Superchips website that all the functions people are claiming are actually available.

Please enlighten me..

I can't read any of the text on your screen shot due to compression, but I have one of these tuners, so what functions are you asking about specifically?

See if this helps ... enlarge your browser 150%. Plus, when I select the tune on the drop down menu it reverts back to the 87 tune.

I searched 2013 Rubicon with an automatic and this is what appeared.

OK, the second one says "Adjust Fan" .... "Not supported"

The forth one says "Adjust Shift Points" ... "Not Supported"

I can verify everything but the lockers and auto trans thing since I have a Sport with a manual. Also, I have no idea what the ESP thing is about.

Directly from the Superchips Forum:

• 93 Performance=30.0 HP @ 5400 RPM 31.0 TQ @ 5400 RPM
• 91 Performance=27.0 HP @ 5400 RPM 26.0 TQ @ 5400 RPM
• 87 Performance=20.0 HP @ 5400 RPM 21.0 TQ @ 5400 RPM
• Tow
• Crawl
• SAVE (Mileage tune)
Custom Options:
• Corrects speedometer for tires between 22.5” - 44.25”
• Corrects auto trans shifting when upgrading gears
(transfer case and rear axle) between 2.00 - 10.00
• 4-Hi front & rear axle lock options (Rubicon Only)
• Adjustable speed limiter options
• Electric fan adjustability for improved cooling
• Real time idle up feature
• Tire pressure monitoring adjustability (on and off-road)
• One-touch lane change options
• DTC reading and clearing
• Advanced data acquisition
• Internet updateable
• Pedal response adjustments
• ESP stability optimization
• Daytime running light options
• Radio delay
• Headlamp delay
• Door lock horn chirp and exterior
light flash options with keyless entry
Hard part compatibility:
• Cat-back exhaust systems
• Cold air intake and/or hi-flow air filter

I haven't messed with any of it, but this is the fan controls. I'm pretty sure you can't adjust your own shift points with the automatic, but it does it for you based on gear ratios and tire size. I don't have to worry about any of that though.

I got my throttle set back to factory (thanks Mike!) and it's a lot more drivable than it was with the superchips map. I might try the medium map too. Hopefully it has a little curve at tip in but then goes back to linear.

I've also noticed that with the 93 performance tune I'm able to use 6th gear again at reasonable speed with my 33s and 3.21s. It actually seems to have a fair amount more power at 1500rpm than with the stock tune.

For what it's worth, I updated my 3870 today just for grins. According to the handheld unit, my current setup has now been updated to:
Handheld firmware: 3.05.04
Databases: Diesel v120; Car v200; Truck v611
Dodge Bootloader: v2.1
I also added the TPMS plugin since I forgot to add it earlier.

Previously I had handheld firmware 3.04.11 and Truck DB v604; there were no updates for the other databases or Bootloader.

YMMV

This a good question for the forum on SuperChips website.

You're right up the road from me. Did you buy your Jeep at Erwin's down here in Troy ?

It all depends on what Version you have on the tuner.

I bought a 3870 before there was software written for our 3.6 JKs.

It's always best to download and check for updates off SuperChip's website BEFORE uploading to your vehicle. There could be updates to your original program.

Is the tuner able to override the lockers on a Rubicon so you can use them in something other than 4 lo? can anyone confirm if this is true?

Supposedly it can, but I only have a sport, so I can't say for sure.

I've read that you can engage in 4hi with the tuner. Can't confirm if that's actually the case though. I'll have to find the specs that I read a few days ago.

I finally got a chance to upload a tune on my 13 JK yesterday. I uploaded the 91 Tune. It is a very lengthy process indeed. Plan to spend about (20-25) minutes sitting in your Jeep watching the slow progress bar on the tuner.

Anyways, I must say I am quite impressed with the results. The overall driveability has increased significantly. By that I mean, the throttle response is much crisper and more linear. MUCH more enjoyable driving experience!

The power is much smoother and the transmission doesn't need to downshift near as much as it did before the tune. The highway passing power has also increased substantially as well.

The upper RPM power is where the tune really is noticeable! Tromping the pedal from a stop is much more exhilarating! Not sure why someone would want to drag race a JK but it ain't know slug that's for sure! These 3.6 JKs really do have some nice power from the get go to begin with!

MPG will be hard to ascertain since I'll have my foot in the pedal much more now! LMAO!

Are you still running 87 with the 91 tune?

Only the Rubicons will have that option.

Best to ask the SuperChips Tech support if they do indeed support that. I believe they do.

This thread is about the FlashPAQ not the FlashCAL. HUGE difference!

If you want to discuss the FlashCAL, best to start a new thread.

I just now saw this. I actually bought mine in Bellefontaine at Mig. One of the guys I work with is really good friends with one of the salesmen up there, so I got a pretty decent deal from him.

Superchips recommends always updating the tuner from their site. I suspect they want you registered and don't send it out with the latest, on purpose. Either way not a big deal. Running this on my diesel Silverado and was money well spent.

Isn't the FlashPaq, basically a FlashCal with engine tuning capability? Being the product model is new for both and not many have them installed, whats the big deal?

Ok, anyone know where the tpms adjustment is. couldn't find it, also what size tire yall putting in for 315/70r17 duratracs? tried 33.75 and now the speedo is going faster than actual by about 2 mph.

Also try 30 - 40 minutes... hopefully second time takes less time in the jeep...

You have to inflate to 29 psi to reset the sensors. Once you do and the light goes off you can air down to whatever cold pressure you want so long as it's over 20psi.
