Attempted to install a Supertop this weekend on our 2011 JK 2dr. Didn't get far. The factory 3pc Freedom Top came off in about 5 minutes and I was ready to install the soft top. That was Step 1 of the Bestop instructions.
Step 2: Install side bow brackets. Piece of cake.
Step 3: Install fender washer on Bow Mount Bracket, both sides. Piece of cake.
Step 4: Install Bow Mount Brackets. Screeching halt. Illustration shows the bracket attaching to the belt rail with the furnished 5/16-18 screw and tapping plate. The belt rail already has captive plates to secure the Freedom Top, and since this is a JK they are METRIC.
I put the Freedom Top back on. After much thought, is it as simple as just using the metric screws that were removed with the Freedom Top and the existing captive nuts? The side slot on the Bow Mount Bracket rubbed against the padding under the bed rail and didn't seem to want to let the Bow Mount Bracket line up with the existing slots/nuts. The instructions don't mention anything about possible interference. Many possible solutions, but probably only one correct solution. What is it?
According to my invoice, I have a Bestop 54716-35. Illustrations and instructions appear to match what I have, but the Bow Mount Bracket just doesn't want to install per the instructions.
TIA for your help!
