So I have an 09 jk, 2 door X that has noise coming from the front right area. When it occurs it is a fast thumping for lack of a better word.
I have heard this noise before in a focus and it turned out to be a bad shock assembly. So with that I am leaning towards being the shock thats the issue. Here is a quick explanation of when it occurs.
Driving on pavement, just myself in the car, going over small bumps it occurs. Larger bumps, like speed bumps, don't cause it to occur. If I have a passenger it doesnt occur. Speeds when it occurs, any speed between 20 and 75.
It is used so no warranty to take care of it and while I am not a mechanic, I can do some work on a vehicle so I am thinking I might be able to take care of this, just need to pinpoint it.
Anyone have any suggestions on what it might be, or how to better diagnose it?
