My new RC 3.5 kit showed up today and I have some time before the wheels and tires arrive. I've been toying with the idea of painting the suspension. (Coils, Arms, Shocks, Bracketry)
Green is the theme on this one so, after my homework I decided to go with paint over powder coating. Everyone seems to like the Rusto so there we go. Probably a lime/gecko green or.... Glow in the dark? Could charge it with the rock lights... Just maybe.

I've actually had good luck so far with my Krylon Maxx cover. I did have a few nice flakes come off when I dropped one like a moron, but they are still a pretty clean looking blue. If you were doing a show jeep you could always just hold some cardboard behind and respray before shows. I just like mine to be a little different. If mine does wear off though, I'm only out about $20 plus my time. I also used a glitter clear coat they make as an attempt at making it look more like my Hydro JKU.
Joe I've seen it done just like yours and I really dig the look 👍🏻 that's pretty much what I'm after. How does that brand hold up for you long term?
2five22 I've heard this is a problem with the lower stuff (paint wise). Have you tried it personally? I'm in the same boat as Joe with wanting something a little different.

So far so good. Like I said, there are some chips from dropping it before install. I'm not looking to show it off, just to stand out if someone looks at them. I might touch them up come spring if I notice it looking bad...
I've been running my powder coated (red) springs for a bit now, and pretty hard- they hose off like like new. I'd suspect powder coating is much more durable than spray paint.
Joe those look great still. I think what I'll end up doing is trying the spray to see how it does and if I'm not impressed the PC guys will need to blast it all first anyway.... Going the other way may not be as cost effective.
I'll update this thread as I go but thanks for all the input everyone!
I wonder how rustoleum bedliner would hold up on springs. My TerraFlex springs rusted like crazy on my Jeep. Next Jeep I want to paint the springs with something that will prevent rust..
FX I'm doing the Rusto for my paint. I'll probably base it with their primer hoping for the same protection.
