Swapping a 11' 2 door for a 12' 4 door worthit?

Hey guys. I have a 2011 2 door jk, and was wondering if there was any downside if i was willing to shell out some additional $$ and was wanted to trade in my 11' 2 door for a 12' 4 door.

Reasons for doing this. Its easier with kids and car seats, finding it to be a bit of a hassle to flip the seat forward and back when wife goes shopping etc...

Please supply input.

Depends on how much upsidedown you are on the 11 as to whether it would be worth it. Car seats and a 2door are a PITA, I know, but, financially for you, does it makes sense??

Kids and family in a 2 door? Brutal. If you can take the financial hit or don't mind, it will be worth it.

Well I really want to wait till the 2013's are in the lot and then see how badly their looking to get rid of their 12's for. Personally I have a sick deal on my 11 so its really gotta be a good deal.

Luckily, we have a van to haul the kids around, good thing too sine we have #3 on the way now. 3 carseats isn't gonna fit in ANY Jeep too well. At least I still get to keep the JK, THAT would be more brutal than getting the kids in and out of it.

With kids having four doors makes it a lot easier for sure. Mine are all grown up so I have the two door and totally removed the rear seat. One thing I have seen from wheeling is that with two doors lifting for wheeling is sort of optional but with four doors it seems to become mandatory unless you like to get pulled off of being high centered. That is about the only drawback I have seen to having four doors.

I did the exact thing u are thinking about. It was the best move ever. My wife is happier and the kids are happier with much more room for them. The new engine and trans is also a huge improvement. You will have to fight to get a good trade in price with the dealer, but its more than worth it. Best of luck to you.

Yeah, I'm sure the upgrade in engine and interior space would be totally worth it, but you'd probably take a pretty serious financial hit, too! Although Wranglers don't seem to depreciate nearly as much as other vehicles, the first year or two are the worst; you'd also have to pay sales tax, doc fees, registration fees, etc. all over again. Then again, these vehicle purchases are rarely based on rational decisions alone: only you can decide if the cost of the swap is acceptable in the long run.

Good luck, either way!
