Swapping spare tire for storage

When I joined this forum, I promised lots of stupid noob questions......well, here's another one:

Out of curiosity, does anyone make a storage compartment that would fit in the spot typically occupied by the Wrangler's spare tire?

I like to keep a roadside emergency kit handy, but the JK's storage space is already quite limited. I know that removal of the spare is consider sacrilegious in some circles, and I readily admit that the Wrangler looks "off" if there isn't SOMETHING back there, but for my own use a spare tire is using valuable space that something else could occupy.....a compartment that could be covered by a standard tire cover would be even better.

I'd consider a flat tire to be the most likely roadside emergency... How about an external gas can holder with that stuff in it?

You're right that a flat is a common emergency....and a spare is the best solution obviously, but unless you have a serious blowout, a can of fix a flat (and maybe a small compressor) is more than adequate to get you home, IMO

The gas can idea is a good one......It's worth looking into, thanks
