Sway Bar

I am new to off roading and don't plan on doing a bunch of heavy stuff. I see threads about disconnecting the sway bar when you off road. Is this required and if so is it just for the real technical/heavy off roading or anytime you hit the dirt?

It's never required, but in instances where you need a lot of articulation, it'll help add articulation in the front, keeping your wheels planted and giving you better grip. I almost never disconnect. Every once in a while a wheel lifts off the ground because of this but I usually have enough traction. Rock crawling is an instance where disconnecting could help you a lot

I find that even on trails with small obstacles disconnecting helps to eliminate some body roll

Your lower back will thank you.
