To start: I KNOW that you get what you pay for. That said, what are your various experiences with putting a switch pod into your JK Unlimited? I see the lower priced Daystar/Rugged Ridge 4-switch pillar pods for about $70. Then I see multi-hundred dollar sPOD items. Do I really want to spend that much just to centralize and make an aesthetically-pleasing location for the 3 to 4 extra switches I intend to install on my '07 Unlimited X? Thanks in advance for the info.
No, you want the $199 Rough Country 6 switch SPOD knock-off that way simplifies installation and has auto voltage cut off to protect the battery so that you will be able to still crank your engine. No more running dedicated runs of wire to switches in the cab for each item. It is a simple single loom run that plugs in and a box that mounts on the drivers side inner fender. Super clean and easy. A tad bit more than the Amazon $130-$170 options, but you do have American based Rough Country to call and bitch at if something goes wrong rather than emailing Sum-Dung-Dong in Korea when the Amazon one breaks.

There are a number of different directions you can go. The switch pods you are seeing for the lower dash and pillar for 70 are switches only. When you are looking at something like the sPod or my personal favorite the bussman panels then you are getting a relay/power distribution panel. That allows you to use lower current rated switches to turn on/off higher current loads. It will also clean up connections at your battery because the distribution panels only have one connection to the battery. All of your devices connect to the panel. Not sure about in the 07's but in my 13 there is also a location right above the speaker in the dash where you could add switches. It is a factory location for the rubicon switches. If you are interested in more information on the bussman panels which are more of a hands on sPod type panel let me know and I will send you some links/pictures
I think for wiring idiots like me the SPOD, RC, or Appollointech devices are the best options out there. The last one has an A Pillar option instead of over the rear view mirror.
another option is switch pros. Mount it anywhere you want and comes with more features than the standard spod.
