tapping noise in low speed stop and go situations

Hello everyone

I am new to the wrangler world. Boughy my new 2013 2dr sahara manual jeep 2 months ago. Have 3300 miles on it thus far.

It has been having this tapping noise on it that seems to be coming from underneath the front part of the car that is driving me nuts. It usually happens when I am in 1 or 2 in stop and go traffic around 5mph..usually happens when I let off the accelerator at about 5mph.

Took it into the shop and they told me I had a bad front drive shaft and they switched it out.

The noise is now significantly less but I feel that there is still an issue. I called the shop and they said that what I am probably hearing is the oil pump turning off and on to get grease in. I don't believe them but also have no idea if this is normal.

Any thoughts or recommendations on what I should do next?

Thanks!

What you are hearing is play/slack in the front and rear drive lines as they load and unload during engine braking and acceleration. You should hear the same noise when you shift at low RPM from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd. It is a common problem caused by careless factory assembly and ill-fitting parts.

Does this affect the typical life span or capabilities of a jeep?

Given your statement it seems that this is a "normal" sound for the car. Would you agree?
