Teraflex, currie, evo, or Clayton long arm kit for my wrangler 4 door?
I have had it with my rubicon express short arm lift. I purchased my jeep used last may. I replaced the bushings 5 months ago. I have done mainly freeway driving. OT the trail at the Easter jeep safari I started to have problems with my rear upper control arm. Looks like the bushings are needing replaced again.i am deciding if I should move to a long arm kit to match up with my eubacteria progressive springs, my king hydraulic bump stops, and my king adjustable shocks. I believe it makes since to make the change. The question I have is which one to buy???i saw the Clayton long arms on the road any they are bolt on which saves time and money. They look extremely heavy duty. I also looked at the teraflex long arm kit and they have great reviews but I did hear on the trail that some people have bushing issues with their teraflex. I also have heard goodnreviewesnon currie and Evo long arm lifts. Any recommendations.??. I'm at the Easter jeep safari and want to buy while I am here. Any recommendations?
just to make it even more confusing, there is alot of love rock krawler, who also happens to make a long arm. being that you're in CA though, I might consider doing the evo setup just because it's supposed to be amazing (albeit expensive). Otherwise, I would look at teraflex and rock krawler, as I've heard good things about them (I run the RK shortarm mixed with teraflex myself).
Also, planman, who happens to be considered a bit of an expert with low COG lifts, ran the trail masters long arm kit, so that might be something to check out too
speaking of shilling RK, the RK kits also has the option of doing 3link in the front and back. I don't know if your jeep is more of a highway vehicle or more a built trail rig, but to get crazy flexy, nothing is sexier than a double 3link!
something else to note is, you mentioned you want a long arm to match your springs. what height lift do you have now? is there a specific reason you want long arm? long arm means new transmission skids (or cutting the current ones), and new control arm brackets, as well as the new arms. JK "short arms" are still pretty long, and if you don't actually want/need the benefits of going long arm, you could save some cash and just go with the previously mentioned manufacturers in the short arm variant.
Out of the choices you gave, EVO would be number one especillay since you are running the KING Shocks! Also, Tearflex makes a great LCG LA kit.
Now, I agree, why no love for the Rock Krawler setup? I think theirs is right up there with the EVO. I also know Jeremy is running around out there at EJS and would be more than happy to answer any qustions for you. Heck, if he can't let me know and we can help you out with any of them!
I am looking for more travel when rock crawling as well as a smoother ride. I am changing from a 3.5 inch lift that is a rubicon express. I like my height but prefer a long arm kit. i figure i might as well spend the extra now vs. later. I purchased the jeep and it had 8500 miles on it and at 11000 miles my bushings went out. rubicon express warrantied the bushings but i had to pay the labor because i don
t have the equipment to do the work. I am now at 16,000 miles and on my run yesterday my new bushings are already bad. Im done with rubicon express' product and am ready to move on.
