That is just the hinge, you still need to buy the tire mount piece.

I was going to 37s, and didn't want a separate swing away tire carrier. I HATE those.

My favorite part is that they say to set the tire against the rear door. Meaning that you dont want to leave any space from the tire to the tailgate. No more spacers holding the tire. Its super tight to the body.

One other point that I like Is that Im holding a 37 on the 3rd highest setting, so with the brake light relocation bracket, (moves the brake light in front of tire, rather than above) I actually have better rear visibility now with the 37 KM2 rather than the 34 duratrac (on the stock tire carrier)

Point being, you can hold a larger tire lower so that you can gain rear visibility.
It's hard to tell in the pictures, what kind of reinforcement is provided in the tub where the hinge bolts on?

You have to cut part of the original brake light and mount it on the new bracket which is supplied based on the videos.

for the folks that have both the carrier and the hinge, when you mounted the carrier did you use any of the spacers or just the rubber gaskets. Meaning, the directions say not to use the metal spacers but it seems these are what would help keep the pressure off of each individual bolt and they would easily fit.

Just the rubber gaskets. The spacers are not needed when you use the TeraFlex tire carrier with the hinge.

you have to realize what your paying for.

compare it to other swing away tire carriers, like AEV.

AEV makes an excellent tire carrier solution, but you need their bumper or the stock bumper, or need to modify another one.

Tire carrier alone, $759 plus $50 for the rear brake light.

The Teraflex solution is 100 bucks less, and you can pick ANY rear bumper.

Its also lighter, but I dont have the exact weight numbers to get into that.

I went back and forth between the two.

You save even more when you go with a low profile bumper like JCR's dagger series.

All very valid points. I also like the fact I don't have to swing open an added carrier just to then open my tailgate...

I just can't justify spending the money for the teraflex tire carrier then a bumper. When a all in one bumper/tire carrier is not that much more and it moves the weight of the tires/Jerry cans to the frame. And you can still get them in the single action like aev, poison spyder, or even the bestop highrock which is under $800 for a bumper and a tire carrier. This is why I am not rushing to buy one at this moment.

All incorrect^^

Highrock bumper and carrier, $1100

Aev bumper and tire carrier $1750

Poison spyder $1500

Teraflex hinge, jcr dagger, $1000 or less

That is $770 for tire carrier and bumper. How can you compete with that? And the fact that it moves the weight to the frame. That is what I was really comparing. I wasn't saying that the others were less then $800.

$470 is just the hinge, correct? Don't you need to use the TF tire mount with the hinge?

What website has it at that price? It's $849 at Q-tec

Morris 4x4 is where I found it and you get a discount for being a forum member.

I was considering the body armor but some reviews said that it sagged not too long after install which lead me to the bestop one.

I think you are missing the whole point. As someone posted earlier it is $680 for the teraflex hinge and tire holder. Even if your $770 set up worked, all of the weight is still on the sheet metal body no? The $770 for the bestop would move the weight to the frame which makes the most sense to me. And it is still one hand, one motion.

Don't need the tire holder (I have 35s on mine) Once you see teraflex carrier in person, you won't worry about weight. It is seriously the best built accessory I have ever seen. IMHO Jeep should include them as stock.
