I'm gonna run EVO d-rings. Picked up the Teraflex hinge only for $378 when it was on sale at Northridge, otherwise I was just going to throw the spare in the trunk or pull the tailgate off and strap it down.

The only part I don't like is having the tire mounted to the body, because I've seen too many people drop off or go up a steep step up and drag their tire carrier. Realistically I don't see myself doing trails that hardcore ATM, but I'm hoping with the tire carrier with the studs on the highest setting is enough clearance.

Not at the moment, but at some point probably.

For the time being on my short list is : 2.5" TF Spring lift, 35" KM2s, stubby the front bumper, ACE rock rails and TF hinge.. After that, mid winter most likely I will be purchasing a Trektop NX and bestop soft doors. Then perhaps in spring will be new bumpers and a winch and call her finished (yeah right!).

I have my eye on this rear bumper :

Rampage Products 88605 - Rampage Products Rear Recovery Bumper for 07-13 Jeep® Wrangler & Wrangler Unlimited JK - Quadratec

and this front:

Just Jeeps :: Bumpers - Front :: Rampage Front Recovery Bumper...

But the plan can change by the time I'm looking for bumpers. If I do need the TF tire carrier to clearance a new rear bumper, then so be it and I'll purchase it then.

The rampage front bumper is my favorite ( it is the one I run) as for the rear it is only a $200 difference for the tire carrier which would make it cheaper then the TF one. It is $600 for rear bumper alone and $800 with tire carrier which is a no brainier to me.

If I recall correctly, the rampage rear does not allow you to use a hitch receiver without modifying it. So, if you plan on using a hitch, you should look into that.

I love the idea, my only concern is the attachment to the body is still the way it is stock. Should I be concerned about this? I always thought that this is the reason people buy the tire carriers is to take the weight off of the body and move it to the frame. Can someone please clarify for me?

That section is reinforced. The Genright carrier also attaches there.

It is a $70 option to have the receiver.

I've been debating - the Rampage Recovery with carrier or the TF hinge with carrier...decisions, decisions...

Ooh yeah, just checked, its a special one. It wasn't available a few months ago when a few threads popped up about this on various forums.

It comes down to protection vs light weight setup.
