Are you guys Installing the tire pushed up against the hinge. I was running it with about an inch gap between the tire and the hinge itself but have seen a few pics of it pushed up against the carrier.

I readjusted the tire carrier and now my tire is more than snug against it. I even let some air out of my 35 spare because it was pushing back against the tire

I installed mine so that it sits snugly against the Teraflex hinge. I then trimmed down the driver side OEM spare rubber bumper by about 1.5" so that the driver side of the tire is snug against it.

I knew it was adjustable but I didn't realize the TF tire mount would have the tire sit that close so that it was snug against the hinge. My tire is about 2 inches off the hinge with the stock mount which is why I need the Daystar bump stop to keep it sturdy on the one side. I'm sure it would be better to have it snug on both sides of the tire.

For those with hard tops the 48 inch Hi-Lift installs about 6 3/8 inch above my hard top. There is a bit of a crown in the top so its about 6 inches above the centerline. This is after I unbolted the "Top Winch Connector Clamp" from the top of the Hi-Lift, which is something I probably don't need but would just as soon have left on. It's at least another two inches. Pic three is with the HD Carrier all the way open, it stops against the lock just before taillight contact.

I just bought the 48 last week. I'll see if 4WD Hardware will exchange it for the 42. The perils of being and early adaptor......

I don't have the hilift mount, but its on my list of stuff. My RR rear bumper has a deep tire well, so it allowed me to lower my 35 to the lowest setting(stock setting according to instructions). Gave me 4 more inches of back window.

Last pic is after I lowered it. I had initially put it in the 35 setting per instructions.

Some pics of the Teraflex mounting bracket for Rotopax containers. My IMHO this setup will be more than adequate to handle the loads of 2 gallons of gas.

We can move the container up or down just by selecting lower holes in the hight-lift. You can see in pic two it can go lower but only as far as the space you see allows. I'm going to try different spots. Opinions welcome!

Will lowest setting interfere with the tail lights?

Without a hilift, what kind of rotopax cans will the mount accept? If you get the extended rotopax handle, can it handle two 3 gallon units?

Man, I'm more than a little irritated that the 48" sticks up so high.

I asked SPECIFICALLY when teraflex posted up their pics that it looked higher and they assured us that it was just the angle of the pics. Then on the Teraflex page John said he was running the 48" also. Now I've bought all this stuff and probably wont fit in the garage.

Damnit!

I park in a carport with a high clearance because my Jeep won't fit in my garage anyway, but looking at that pic with the 48" hi-lift, I'm not sure I could get into the parking garage I use some days. Looks like even a 42" hi-lift would be close to the top.

Someone earlier posted that the 48" hi-lift was 1-2" above his soft-top, but that looks like much more than that with a hard-top. There can't be that much difference in height between a soft-top and hard-top is there? I know there is a bow in the middle that sticks up a bit with the soft-top, but that pic makes it looks like the hi-lift is 5-6" higher.

a 42" hi-lift will sit below the roof line. you won't have any issue there. i park in a 8' clearance parking garage (just take the ramp directly to the roof) - and the only thing i hit on the clearance bar is my CB antenna. my 48" hi-lift clears that fine... and i'm sitting on a 4" short arm lift with 35s.

you'd have to fab something up. the issue is clearance with the tail light. when my tailgate is open, my hi-lift barely clears the passenger tail light.

i think they've said you can only run a 2-gallon rotopax and still clear.

Where'd you guys buy the Hi-Lift mount? I'm looking to get free shipping if possible. It looks to be $76.99 everywhere so far.

I ordered mine from TF directly. I paid $178.98 for two of them. That included $25 in shipping charges.

No. The HD Hinged Carrier has a built in stop that will not allow the tailgate to open much further than 90 degrees. Both the jack and the container do not contact the taillight. It's very close for the jack, but with the proper jack adjustment it's fine.

Without a Hi-Lift installed, the Teraflex bracket will hold only a single 2 gallon Rotopax container. More will cause contact with the taillight when the tailgate is opened all the way. I spoke to Teraflex today and Joe was out, but the word is they have no plans to offer a solution for more capacity at this time.

Daystar makes a spare tire mounted container system that holds two of their 2.5 gallon containers. Here is a link if you have not seen it.

I like that Daystar solution. The only issue I can see is for those of us running the delta lugnut lights or the TF carrier brake light relocation bracket.

I stepped out to grab some lunch and the wife called to say the new 42" High-lift jacks had arrived. I came home, pulled into the garage and crunch! I've been going in and out of the garage with the 48" for a couple of days. Not sure if the warmer temps today raised my air pressure just enough or if maybe I came in a little quicker than I have been.

Anyway.....new 42" jacks are installed. Much much better!

Not that it really matters to me, but the 42" still looks a tad bit higher than the top, or is that just an illusion?

Some of the pics are a bad angle. But yes it is just a tad over. Barely any though. My guesstimate is less than 1/4-1/2" over on the hardtop (which has the lower roofline).

Great pictures RRTRI. Yes, the 42" looks perfect. I'm glad I went that route.

You could send that one picture to Hi-Lift as promotional material. "Look how popular our jacks are, people buy four of them!"

I spoke with Jason at KOR and found out the Teraflex Accessory Mount is backordered until mid-April!

I went ahead and had him put me on the waiting list for one. My jack arrives tomorrow. I guess it will serve as garage art for about 5 weeks.

Thanks JimmEC for posting this. The Rugged Ridge rear bumper is one of the our candidates, but I was wondering if it had the clearance for a 35 in the lowest Teraflex mounting position. Now I know for sure. I think the Teraflex/RR combo you have is a great one.

I am having the same concerns, don't need a hi-lift.
I was wondering if the folks with the mount could tell me if they think the universal mounting plate and the 4 gal rotopax would fit/work

It was determined and validated by Teraflex that anything over a 2-gal can would hit the brake light when you open the tail gate.

a couple questions... are you lifted? what size tires? if so, how do you intend to change a flat tire with the stock jack??

Ha..yeah, maybe they would sponsor me and send me more jacks for the new collection I'm starting.

Most likely. My wife was thinking I should keep one of them around as a spare but I'm I doubt I do it. However if I do sell them it will have to be local. Don't really want to have to deal with the PIA of mailing them.
